Day 74: Mayo & I Exchange Language Tuesday, May 26, 2009 5:00am: I woke up to finish my homework and write out notecards. Then, I ate breakfast and got ready for school. 8:00am: I left for school. 9:15am: Class began with a kanji quiz. Then, we did some reading. 11:00am: We learned new kanji, 起きる、寝る、遊ぶ、立つ、座る、使う、始まる、終わる、貸す、借りる、返す、送る. Then, we listened to some more Japanese conversations. 12:30pm: I ate lunch very quickly at GL-Net. Then, I ran to the computer lab to print out Human Resources materials. I also had to finish my essay of “Why I am so Fabulous,” which was an exercise of bragging about yourself. Day 72: Missed Concert Sunday, May 24, 2009 12:00am: Amy, Amy’s Host Mom (“Okaasan”), and I stay up the whole night speaking in English and Japanese. 8:00am: We go to sleep. 1:00pm: Amy and I woke up. I thought the classical concert that we were going to was at night! This is when I realized that it was at a different time!!! I call Tatsuhiro and he says the classical concert starts at 2pm. There was no way for Amy and I to make it. I apologized…but I still felt bad. 2:00pm: Amy, her host family, and I eat lunch (hamburgers!!). Then, Amy’s host siblings and I went shopping in the neighborhood. I buy an apology present for Tatsuhiro. Day 70: Pre-Host Dad & CLUBBING! Friday, May 22, 2009 3:00am: I woke up to write out notecards for my vocabulary quiz. And I finished my homework. 8:00am: I wore a dress and I rushed out the door. I will be busy today. 9:15am: I made it just in time for the quiz. Then, we learned "V-てみる(doing for a future purpose)、V-てある(resultive state、V-ていく/くる (doing then going/coming)" 11:00am: We learned "new" kanji. 映る、画、写る、真、音、楽しい、料、組む、思う、色、白、黒、赤 I knew these already...I see them in my textbook and outside a lot. 12:30pm: I ate lunch and ran to print out stuff for Human Resource. On the way, I see Nana and she helps me translate and text a Japanese message to my pre-host dad, Hayashi-san. 1:30pm: Human Resource class started. Day 68: Study Day, Jon KNOWS Me Wednesday, May 20, 2009 4:00am: I woke up. I slept at 12:00am last night. I studied my kanji and wrote note cards for the kanji that I didn’t have note cards yet. 7:45am: I got ready and ate breakfast, slice of bread with peanut butter and cream cheese, 2 sausages, and lettuce with the peanut butter taste sauce. 8:10am: I left. 9:15am: I made it to class. We learned how to say “try to…”, imperatives (which is like an “!”), and how to ask questions in a different way. 10:45am: Break time! I studied diligently on my kanji and took a 2 minute nap. 11:00am: Class begins with the kanji test. I spent about 5 hours studying…and the test was only 1 sheet of paper back and front. Day 66: Japanese Friend Monday, May 18, 2009 6:00am: I woke up, get ready, ate breakfast, and write out my note cards to study on the train. 7:45am: I leave to go to school. 9:00am: I made it to my classroom. I’m pissed that I still feel “unliked.” 9:15am: Class begins with a kanji quiz. Then, we learn how to say, “I went to Shibuya to eat dinner with a friend.” We also learn how to say “until” and “by.” 10:45am: Class ended and Eileen comes by! I showed her pictures of the 2 Japanese friends I made on Friday. We had fun talking. :) 11:00am: Eileen goes to her class.
