Candy, Stefan
We're in the same Japanese class in the mornings. Day 68: Study Day, Jon KNOWS Me
Wednesday, May 20, 2009 4:00am: I woke up. I slept at 12:00am last night. I studied my kanji and wrote note cards for the kanji that I didn’t have note cards yet.
7:45am: I got ready and ate breakfast, slice of bread with peanut butter and cream cheese, 2 sausages, and lettuce with the peanut butter taste sauce.
8:10am: I left.
9:15am: I made it to class. We learned how to say “try to…”, imperatives (which is like an “!”), and how to ask questions in a different way.
10:45am: Break time! I studied diligently on my kanji and took a 2 minute nap.
11:00am: Class begins with the kanji test. I spent about 5 hours studying…and the test was only 1 sheet of paper back and front. It was easy, so I hope my grade was an A. Then, we learned new kanji. I didn’t pay attention. I just filled in the answers in my kanji book, studying on my own. I LOVE kanji.
12:30pm: Candy, Frank, Stefan, and I eat at a Mexican restaurant. I’m not into Mexican food, but I just want to be

Frank is also in my class. This is the guy who proposed to his girlfriend and she said yes! I will make another entry about that later. with them. I ordered taco rice, but I didn’t like it because there was onions. I didn’t know how to ask the waitress if onions can be removed from my food. I just bared the awful strong taste of onions.
2:00pm: I had home to sleep and study.
3:00pm: On my walk to home, I stop by OK supermarket to buy menstruation pads. They’re not as thick as the ones in America and that’s REALLY annoying. So, I do my best to choose the “thickest” one. But I spent a really long time staring at the many brands. What makes it worse…is that the thickness is measured in centimeters…so I’m confused as heck what that really means. Also, everything is written in Japanese, so I don’t know if the pads are light or thick ones. I just bought the brand that had the biggest centimeter number.
4:00pm: I am home. I study my Japanese grammar for the test tomorrow.
5:00pm: I fall asleep.
6:30pm: I wake up and eat dinner. It was spaghetti. It was okay…but I like pasta, so I ate it really fast. Daiki’s mom comes over. I realized that Manami uses the

8:00pm: I went to my room to memorize my skit and study some more.
9:00pm: My skit partner, Martin, and I practice our skit on Skype. It was pretty easy to memorize, so I hope I will sound better than my first skit.
9:45pm: I call Jon. As usual, we do our daily arguments. But it’s the kinds that couples have every day. And Jon really knows how to copy my accent and word choice. I was complaining that talking on the phone for 30 minutes was TOO LONG. I only want the call to be 10-15 minutes. Below is what I remember of Jon copying my accent:
Jon: I’m glad we don’t have kids.
Me: Why?
Jon: *mocking my accent and word choice*
1 to 2 hours????? Maaaaaybeeee. But the whoooole daaaayyy…that’s a reeeeeally LONG time! Me: Wow! You reeeeeally know me!
Later, Jon tells me that he told Aimee to eat pie.
Me: I-
Jon: *mocks me again*
I want pie! Me: Hoooow did you know what I was gonna say?!
So that was a fun conversation. It really did become 30 minutes. I was really planning 10 minutes. Jon makes me sound really cute.
10:30pm: I go back to studying. I plan to call Aimee, but I don’t know when.
Notes: Times are approximate. If you want a postcard / letter from me, please send me your address in a private message. 😊
