| 6th June 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Ice Rink Location - From: Day 41: Ice-Skating :) The ice rink is near 3 stations: kanagawa (keihinkyuko/keikyu line), nakakido (keihinkyuko/keikyu line), and higashi-kanagawa (keihin-tohoku line). From there you can ask how to get to the ice rink at the police box called "koban." I said, "aisuketto rinku wa doko desu ka?" And everyone I encountered knew where the ice rink is, so that's not a problem. The ice surface is not as great as the one I am used to in Chicago. And the ice rink is pretty small compared to Chicago's. BUT it's still an ice rink. You get used to the ice quickly. |
| 5th June 2009 anonymous | - From: Day 41: Ice-Skating Thanks for the blog! May I ask which ice rink you went to? Do you know how you would get there by train? What did you think of the ice surface? Many thanks! |

| 4th May 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: hair - From: Day 49: Hair Dye (1st Time EVER) Yea... I will just have to deal with "not looking Japanese" for a while. Hehe...I might even cheat and just dye my hair back to its original color. |
| 4th May 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: that sadness - From: Extra: Unknown Sadness wow, you are so nice, Jamasian! Thanks for your encouragment. :) I recommend you coming to Tokyo! I LOVE it!! |
| 4th May 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: The "Beggar" - From: Day 22: Ueno Park Really?! OHhHHhhH!!! I was so confused because he certainly did NOT look like a beggar! |
| 3rd May 2009 Jamasian | hair - From: Day 49: Hair Dye (1st Time EVER) Your hair looks good on you, but you don't look Japanese haha Don't worry. It doesn't look embarrassing. |
| 2nd May 2009 Jamasian | that sadness - From: Extra: Unknown Sadness Hey, I'm abroad in china right now and i'm thinking of doing ciee tokyo next year...so i'm reading your blog haha I think being sad for some reason after the first month is normal, because I was too. I didn't have a good enough grasp on the language (to me) and reading is difficult because we don't have hiragana or katakana options. :( Anywho, I dance too, so don't worry it won't be like this for the whole time. |
| 2nd May 2009 Jennifer | The "beggar"... - From: Day 22: Ueno Park He is actually a Buddhist monk asking for donations, not a beggar. You will see them from time to time. |
| 27th April 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Leen - From: Day 44: Kiyosumi Park (I Wear a Yukata) Yea...we were SAD that you didn't come. |

| 25th April 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Jonahwho - From: Day 41: Ice-Skating Well...I get lucky a lot and I get to sit down on trains. But I'm actually learning how to sleep standing up. It's easier when I'm being smushed. |
| 25th April 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Jonahwho - From: Day 40: Waxing Yes, that's my name. Hiromi is my first name. Usui is my last name. In Japan, I flip my first and last name around on paper. But I'm American, so I prefer EVERYONE calling me by my first name. I get a little irritated if someone called me by my last name. What you said about the card is correct. But it is up to the boss to excuse the person or not. Not all bosses will excuse a card. |
| 25th April 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Leen - From: Extra: Unknown Sadness :) Thanks Leen. You know I always talk to you! Happy Birthday!!!!!!!! |
| 24th April 2009 jonahwho | - From: Extra: Unknown Sadness sorry to hear what u feel make yourself busy, you won't come to Japan often and do something worthy, don't be sad, cheer up |
| 24th April 2009 jonahwho | - From: Day 41: Ice-Skating u slept a lot,lol guess the carriage have pretty much room for passengers, not like the place here, I even have no room to stand,ha |
| 24th April 2009 jonahwho | „•i - From: Day 40: Waxing is that ur name? and tell me which one is family name and given name, cuz I don't know exactly how Japenese name people. and I'm confused about the card u mentioned above, correst me if im wrong, so If the train was late, I got the card and showed to my boss (if i'm working now), and I would be out of trouble, am i right? |
| 24th April 2009 Leen | - From: Extra: Unknown Sadness I'm sorry to hear that you have an indiscernible sadness. I know that I get that around this time of year, but I wonder why. Do you wanna talk about it? I'm here for you. Seriously that's not bullshit. <3 |
| 23rd April 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Jonahwho - From: Day 40: Waxing Wow! Thanks! |

| 22nd April 2009 jonahwho | - From: Day 39: Fell Asleep in Class if the classroom was big I would sit at the back of it and take a nap. I can read what u wrote in the picture of Kanji worksheet, somewords are pretty much the same with Chinese, by the way,Im a Chinese |

| 14th April 2009 Raining Blue Star | RE: Japanese Only - From: Day 28: Kamakura Trip I realized that there were two meanings to "Japanese Only" response. 1: For Japanese speakers only 2. For Japanese Citizens only I was pissed that the man didn't realize was both! |

| 12th April 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Very Detailed - From: Phone Preparations :) You don't really need Skype unless you know that you will use it abroad or call international AND you need to have internet. Other than that, it's pretty useless. I have it because I can call America (landlines & cellphone) unlimited times for $13/month. I can also call unlimited times to Japan landlines. I call my boyfriend and mom A LOT. |
| 12th April 2009 Raining Blue Star | Re: Packing List - From: Packing List (LONG) lol, lots of those things are small items. They're just detailed. :) A golden pencil is to color the bottom of my eye to take the appearance off of my eye baggs. |

| 9th March 2009 Raining Blue Star | Good Idea - From: Packing List (LONG) I think waiting is a good idea, but this is my first time traveling to Japan by myself. So, I really don't know if I'll know what items I am buying without knowing how to read in Japanese. Better to be safe, right? When I travel to Japan next time, I will definitely wait to buy my items there. |
| 6th March 2009 Christie | Idea? - From: Packing List (LONG) If I were you, I'd just wait & buy everything on your list that's available in Japan once you get there ;) |
