Day 40: Waxing
Wednesday, April 22, 2009

6:00am: I got ready and studied for my vocabulary quiz. I also called Jon.

7:30am: I ate breakfast, 2 sausage links, lettuce, and a slice of bread and water.

7:48am: I left in a hurry and borrowed an umbrella.

8:03am: The train came late but I was still okay. I continued to study for my vocabulary quiz.

8:10am: The other train was also late.

9:00am: I made it to Yotsuya. All the trains were being late, so a man was standing outside passing out cards that explained that the trains were late today (to be excused cards). I didn need a card because I am always early. I shouldve taken one just for fun, but I thought that too late.

9:15am: Candy and I changed table. Class started with Kamio-sensei. We learned how to say "I think..." and how to change verbs into Keego.

10:45am: Class ended. I just talked, went to the bathroom, and sat and talked again to friends.

11:00am: Class started with Kobayashi-sensei. He taught us new kanji, "near/recent," "far/remote," "speedy," "slow," "way/street," "blue," "fine/clear up," "silent/still," "temple," "hold," "load," and "song."
WorksheetWorksheetWorksheet

This is the worksheet we needed to fill, print out, and turn it in.
Im behind in reviewing my kanji... Im still on Chapter 12 and this is Chapter 14... I was so bored that I fell asleep a lot. Candy woke me up a few times, but I couldn help it. Maybe hes just boring?

11:45am: The clock was moving too slow for me. We listened to a bookstore conversation and we read a report about it. I was still EXTREMELY bored. I couldn quite read the report.

12:30pm: Class finally ended. I was so tired. But I still had a meeting to go to later. I asked if Candy and Frank wanted to eat lunch with me at my favorite restaurant.

12:45pm: We made it to my favorite restaurant. I saw a lot of the CIEE students there too, such as Eileen, Kyle, Jen, Melissa, etc. Candy, Frank, and I sat and talked.

1:00pm: Candy went to her metro station. Frank says with enthusiasm, "Lets go to the library... We can check our e-mail!" Bwahahaha! With those words, I heard, "Lets go there! Theres an arcade!" I said "OK!" Frank, "You e not hard to convince." Well, I do like computers. I saw another CIEE student at the

computer lab, Anne Foster. At the computer lab, I print out my housing reflection worksheet and checked my e-mail.

1:50pm: Frank, Anne, and I went to Building 11 to attend the mandatory meeting called "Housing Reflection." It was basically about our dorm experiences. I GUESS it was interesting. But I was glad to see a lot of the CIEE students again. I told Amy about my journey to the waxing salon in Nishi-Kasai. She wants to wax also!

3:00pm: Amy and I go to Iidabashi, then switch train line to Tozai line, and headed for Nishi-Kasai.

4:30pm: We made it to Nishi-Kasai and we spend a very long time trying to find the "wax salon."

5:15pm: I was stupid. I finally decided the salon contact. Thank goodness, English is spoken! I find out that it was a HOME business. So Amy and I went to see the home business, just to meet the lady. Shreya was VERY nice. I told her that I had the HARDEST time finding a place that will wax my eyebrows for a GOOD price. I didn want to pay $35 to wax my eyebrows at a Japanese salon, nor did I want to pay $10 for a Japanese salon to SHAVE my eyebrows (which grew out in 2 days! USELESS!). Shreya says its better to thread than to wax. But I guess she ended up liking us because even though Shreya said she was off today being with her mother-in-law, she decided to do Amy and my eyebrows. Shreya also did Amys upper lip. The total? My eyebrows = $5. Amys eyebrow & upperlip = $8.
GOOD PRICE.

6:00pm: Amy and I left Shreyas apartment. We were so happy. I called Manami about being late for dinner. I thanked Amy (numerous times) for coming with me. I was really planning this journey to be by myself (just like my bookstore & ice-skating journeys). It sucks to be alone, but I rather be alone than be with someone who complains. I TRY to hang out with people who have the lowest possibility of complaining, actually. I also don like wasting other peoples time. MY time is important and so are others. I really worry about people NOT liking me.

6:15pm: Amy and I split at Tokyo Station. I worried about her because she takes a long time going home. I plan to ask her later.

8:00pm: I made it home. Manami was surprised that it took me 2 hours to get home. I told her about my eyebrows and she said it was really cheap! Daiki says that my eyebrows made me look a bit prettier. I was just so relieved to finally find a place that will do my eyebrows. I was frustrated with a tweezer. And I was NOT going to try waxing myself. Also, I didn want to pay someone AGAIN to shave and cut my eyebrows. Stupid. I ate my delicious dinner, hambaggu with bbq sauce, mashed potato, miso soup, salad, and water. I was starving!

8:15pm: I watched Black Lagoon with my host family (Episode 1) with English subtitles. I love my host family for doing this for me. I took a shower.

9:00pm: I went to my room to finally study for my Japanese test tomorrow.

I KNOW I am sad. I worked out my abs, did push ups, listened to some music, TRIED to freestyle dance, and called Jon. The fact that Im exercising and sleeping late means...Im getting lonely or depressed. Sleeping late makes me realize that Im

sad...for a reason I try to figure out. Exercising is a means of feeling better... I also feel the pain physically than mentally when I exercise. I probably know the reasons why I feel this way, but Im trying to cure myself by listening to hip hop music and doing crunches. I also tend to lose my appetite, but I would feel bad if I didn eat dinner with my host family, so I eat.

12:00am: I went to sleep.

The address and contact of the place I got my waxing can be found at:

is that ur name? and tell me which one is family name and given name, cuz I don't know exactly how Japenese name people. and I'm confused about the card u mentioned above, correst me if im wrong, so If the train was late, I got the card and showed to my boss (if i'm working now), and I would be out of trouble, am i right?

Re: Jonahwho
Yes, that's my name. Hiromi is my first name. Usui is my last name. In Japan, I flip my first and last name around on paper. But I'm American, so I prefer EVERYONE calling me by my first name. I get a little irritated if someone called me by my last name. What you said about the card is correct. But it is up to the boss to excuse the person or not. Not all bosses will excuse a card.

Re: Keiko
Nua looks great! But it's a bit expensive. They charge 9,345 yen for leg wax and the place I went to charges 2,500 yen. I don't know...the price difference is rather large...
