Internet has been hard this week, but not that we spent much time needing it anyways. We stayed with 2 of Matt's friends in Ausin; Tyler who goes to University of Texas in Austin, and Carter who visited us in the UK. Both friends of Matt's from Camp. We stayed with Tyler in his dorm on campus, so got to see Austin as if we were a student there. We went for Texas style bbq, got to see an African Festival on campus which was pretty unorganised but still a little good and had some contraban on campus (beer in the dorm) while teaching Tyler to play Shitheadwith the cards. Carter lives near Barton Springs, just south of Austin. We spend a day walking along the lake and into town and back again - 7.5miles ech! ... read more

Hay Ya'll, we're in Austin, Texas at the minute, sorry we haven't wrote but we've been busy having loads of fun. A funny thing that happened today... We walked in to a liquor store to get some water as it was the only place we could see. Matt gets to the counter and the dude asks for his ID, 'what for water!'so Matt shows it and the guy tells him he has to be 21. You know Matt's ID 12/01/90 in America December 1st and not January 12th. The guy wouldn't believe him and told him he couldn't have the water haha. No water for you Matt, you gotta be 21!! Captain Kerry to the rescue... We realised and were told that Houston was very hard to negotiate around without a car but didn't find this ... read more

We didn't spend much time in Nashville, but the time we did spend was great. Our hosts, Bradley and Franchesa were great, Bradley helped plan where we're going to travel through the Gran Canyon and also told us about the free concert that we went to 'live on the green'. If you ever get the chance to, Nashville's well worth a visit. The town's really pretty and it's like walking through your very own little musical. We got to see Marie Hines, Brett Dennen, Rayland Baxter, also Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors. None of which we had heard of, most we enjoyed. Having to pay for accommodation is sad :-( especially when you book into a totally crap hostel, it totally sucks..... We arrived in New Orleans at 5.30 am and couldn't check in until 2pm ... read more

We loved it here, so nice, so friendly, so inviting, so unrushed and so laid back. Just a really beautiful place to see.We stayed with Mike and Theresa while here and although we didn't spend much time together, we had so much fun watching their TV, flicking through Channels and using their phone. All of which were cardboard. Really nice and funny people. All of the Smithsonian Museums are free so we had a very eductional visit to most of them. The National Air & Space Museum, National Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of American History. All of which were pretty cool. We got to see the Ruby Slippers from the Wizard of Oz, the Hope Diamond, the hat that Lincoln wore when he was shot and the Wright brothers' flyer. We went ... read more

We spent a lot of time walking while in NYC, to really see the city I think you have to. We enjoyed a great half a day in Central Park going to see the stairs from Home Alone 2 ( we got of the tube at 96th had to walk to 72nd ). Then we spent about 45 minutes in a visiters centre as it decided to rain which was really quite funny. Sat on the steps at the MET like they do in Maid of Honour, walked through Washington Square Park to see the Arc from I Am Legend and even managed to see the outside of where Carrie lives from SATC! We went to see Times Square both through the day and at night, both times so so busy and full of tourists. Really ... read more

Well to say it's a busy city is an understatement, to say it's an expensive city, well that would be o so true. We stayed with two different hosts in New York both lovely and very friendly people. We enjoyed a chicken wrap, burger and fries with Elizabeth at this up class cafe near 207th and we enjoyed a thai curry with Fabian near 78th (kerry says the thai curry kicked v-fest spring rolls ass).We had icecream twice in New York ( I don't know why we always seem to tell you what we've been eating in the posts but I'll continue anyways ...) The first was coldstone which we had been recommended by the German's who we met at Niagara who had just been there. You pick your icecream, toppings, sauce and then the lady ... read more

What a brilliant experience to have. We stayed with Ray at his B&B home about 2 miles from the falls and whilst there met a lovely German couple, Toby and Lea. We spent a full day walking devil's gorge, a 4 mile hike along the Niagara River. (Hike in English = a walk by the way). We were totally rewarded when we got to the end and seen the American falls, the smaller of the set of falls. We crossed it to see it from the other side and walked a little further to see the House-shoe falls, the larger of the two, which you can't quite see all of from the USA side. Matt and the German's decided to take the adventure of the cave of the winds and get even closer to the falls ... read more

We've all had pizza before, but not like the pizza we had in Chicago! Can you imagine a piece of steak pie... well we had pizza pie! An inch and a half of crust, the base, cheese, the toppings (or in this case the fillings), more cheese, a thin piece of pastry and then the tomato sauce, baked to prefection, mmmmmmmm. Then the icecream, o the icecream. We walked into a supermarket and they had a full row of freezers full of different flavoured icecream. Can someone please go knock on Mr Ben and Mr Jerry's door and demand that they make moose-tracks and turtle-tracks flavoured icecream for the UK !!! It is now my sole purpose in life to taste all flavours of icecream over here to find my favourite :-) (Guess who wrote this!) ... read more
