After Georgia we are finally moving back to seriously warmer weather and the sunshine of the winter...in Florida. These two coming entries are all about Tiffany and Leslie...and me making Mickey and his family a little richer! Leslie and Tiffany will admit easily...they are too grown-up to visit Disneyworld or Disneyland....thanks kids, I really appreciate! I've already been to Universal Studios with Leslie in LA...and in Singapore...we love Universal Studios and we'll be back...sooner or later...to show a good time to Tiffany, but this time, it was Disney time...not Mickey time! Weather was still a little to cold to do a waterpark....so we headed for Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We started by the "educational" option, I name Epcot. My third visit...the park is pretty old, re-inventing itself every few years....but I truly find this a nice ... read more

I have to admit, my pictures don't give justice to the Old Town of Savannah...this place is simply gorgeous. I know some of you will tell me I should have gone to Charleston too....but we will keep it to Savannah this time. I have to admit, I have not much knowledge of the American Civil War. Well...at the time...I write this, after having visited Savannah, and seen the movie Lincoln, I may know a little more than close to nothing. And when I don't know, I prefer not to start to lecture Leslie and Tiffany on a period I didn't study at school...that's the way it's done in Europe! We arrived in Savannah early afternoon and stay in the city for a good 24 hours. Our principal activity was simply to walk around those streets. The ... read more

Didn't play golf...neither went to a church....but... Does Augusta deserve a blog entry? Maybe not...but than again...once, I was a 5 hcp golf player...you know, before I thought that being a single dad and diver...was more fun... If you have no idea what it can mean to be a 5 handicap golf player...don't worry, that's way in my past for the moment, it simply means that you can play serious golf...but that you'll never be good enough to try make a proper living playing golf. August, aka National August is basically welcoming the Masters every year. Let's put it simply, this is one of the top 4 golf tournament in the world every single year...in the same place! The British Open or US Open change golf course...and city every single year....the Masters don't! Augusta have around ... read more

We have dropped one car in Salt Lake City and picked another one in Atlanta, with two short flights via Dallas in the middle. Sorry, no plan to drive the Mid-West this time. First good news, we are done for now with the freezing weather. Atlanta is the headquarter of many huge American corporations...well-known for the Olympics...and CNN, Coca-Cola and the Geaorgia Aquarium! Once safely back on land, we took the local train from the airport to downtown....first look of downtown...well, they have a lot of chain hotels...and not sure they have a lot more to see than this. Our program was simple....get to the CNN tour before the last one of the day, and next morning be at the gate of the Georgia Aquarium at the opening. CNN has a one hour tour, and a ... read more

Alta, you have probably never heard of this place... Everybody goes to Park City...there they have a St Regis...there is the Sundance Festival...and as the local radio put it, even Bieber is skiing in Park City (Who cares!). We were going to Park City too...till my friend Chip told me...wait a minute, you've got to ski in Alta...and this was later on confirmed by another friend from the States, Ed....both divers...let's follow the advise of my senior friends who know more about the US slopes...than I know for sure! Alta is just around 40km outside Salt Lake City. So to make it easier, and way cheaper we stay in Salt Lake and drove everyday. The original plan was four days of skiing...but from the first day the weather forecast was pretty clear....on Thursday, the winter storm ... read more

The weather was really cold...the landscape was really amazing...that may be a short cut, but it's a pretty accurate one! Any great vacation is one which provide a great diversity. We are the 6th of January, and have spent the last 6 days going from one National Park to another National Park...so for Tiffany and Leslie, these two last parks were great, but they were also happy to be the last ones. For myself, let be honest, I could have take few more days of these impressive landscapes...these are amazing places! Leslie put it pretty simply once we left the area...Papa, 6 days ago I would have said wow just driving this road...today it's...well....we've seen better! Sadly, this is not the first time I have these kinds of comments. Once you spend your time chasing the ... read more

One dreams to see the world, and I can say easily that I'm pretty fortunate at touring it for the last 20 something years. My wishlist of places to visit is finally actually getting shorter by the year for the last few years. But Monument Valley, this place has been on my top 10 for years. Today it's done, and what a better way than to share it with Leslie and Tiffany. Don't even try to get me on how many places these two will have seen by the time they are eighteen...I know... You've seen the western movies, Forrest Gump, Mission Impossible, Back to the future....and all the other movies about this place. But where is that land looking like out of this world. Simple, border of Utah and Arizona...truly in the middle of nowhere...must ... read more

The first picture of this entry is called the "Monument Valley of Antelope"...and yes, I don't have a tripod which would have made all these pictures way better. You could visit on your own Antelope Canyon till the middle of the 1970s...than from there...it was only group visits organized by the local Navajo tribe. Result, this visit set us back to 76usd for three of us...and this is low season...76usd for 2 hours, but wow, this place is amazing! Let's first come back to Page. The city is just over 40 years old, and it's nothing else than a stop for Powell Lake, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon...or further the Grand Canyon and in the opposite direction Monument Valley. There is a huge dam...a beautiful lake...due to the lake...and an horrible plant which I guess is a ... read more

My first idea was to simply not do any blog about the Grand Canyon, and to put the pictures in my next blog. There are two reasons for this blog. First...what is coming next worth an entry by itself, without the need of average pictures from the Grand Canyon in the same blog. Second, was my feeling...and the one of Leslie and Tiffany while visiting the area next to the Grand Canyon Village on the 3rd of January. But first, let's come back few years back...summer of 2004... You don't come to the States "just" for the Grand Canyon. Most people will actually visit on a day trip either from Las Vegas or the Phoenix area. For me I splurged a little back in summer 2004...flying over it...than having an helicopter flight over it followed by ... read more

Discover the world one wonder at the time... Well, the year is starting pretty well, and for the first week of 2013, it's more like discover the world, one wonder a day. We slept last night in Kanab, some 3 hours drive north-east of Las Vegas. Not much to write about Kanab...it's basically two rows of chain hotels, chain fastfood joints...and few petrol stations. We'll found out this week that little town around the border of Arizona and Utah have strictly no interest...we use them to sleep, to get food...and gas for the car. You come here for the National Parks...and trust me, these places are simply amazing! First on the list this morning, Bryce Canyon National Park. It's a beautiful 2 hours drive north of Kanab. And the luck is already with us...a cute wild ... read more
