Moving to a new country for a year....and still be on the road the last four months, I know some will not understand me. Leslie and Tiffany have no started a new schoold year, nearly a month ago, and everything is going pretty well. Leslie is improving seriously fast with his castellano, Tiffany, it's something else. And as we have been here for long enough, everybody feel only normal to speak to me only in castellano...don't they say the best is to practise as much as you can? I loved the comments of the Mums at school the first time they saw me after the summer holidays. The question being...so, are you really leaving end of June...or are you staying? Well....somewhere deep inside me, I wouldn't mind to stay..but there is a lot, and enough to ... read more

We were in Cusco on a Monday morning...and ready to re-settle in our flat on Monday night. Than Tuesday morning, I left for 2 weeks to Africa...via Sao Paolo and Johannesburg...direction Kinshasa. Everything should have gone smoothly, but it simply didn't. Congo, aka DRC is seemed to be ranked 192nd for "ease of doing business" by the UN...out of 192 countries....yes, doing business or simply travelling here is actually more complicated than trying to reach places like Afghanistan or Iraq....even if most of Congo is actually way safer. There is no Embassy of DRC anywhere close to where I live...so forget about applying directly for a visa. The solution is actually pretty simple...you've got the right paperwork and "they" apply for you for a "visa on arrival", valid 7 days once you enter the country...visa that ... read more

I have to admit, this is the last entry of our southern hemisphere summer school holidays. For those who follow us....be happy, the emails will not come anymore on a regular basis over the next few months....but trust me, the trips are not over, and yes, we still have a lot of adventures planned ahead of us for the coming months. First act was July to December 2012 in Buenos Aires. Second act was that crazy adventure from December till mid-February around South and North America. Tiffany and Leslie have been back for nearly a week in Buenos Aires, and for them today is the first day of a new school year. On my side, I have finally reached Congo...this time was even more "interesting" than any time before...and quite on the challenging side... So to ... read more

Short flight from Lima and here we are in Cusco. This is only my third visit here, first one in 2002, second one in 2006. The past two times it was Cusco and Matchu Pichu for me, but this time it would be way more. My only real issue was to find out how Tiffany and Leslie would react to an altitude of 3400 meters. Altitude sickness is not something to take lightly in Cusco. At the same time, Tiffany and Leslie have both skied well above the 3000 meters mark without any issues. My last two visits in Cusco, we never splurged on accommodation…and I wasn’t going to splurge on the Monestario this time either. I found a nice deal at the Novotel…reading the reviews I was expecting a small room and average stay…how wrong ... read more

Oh Lima…this place is just so special in my heart. If we are on this site, it is because we love travelling….but life is not only about travelling, life is about our friends…our families…and our children… Lima is way more than a place for me…even if I have to admit, it has some of the best food in the world. I may have been blogging only once or twice about Lima in the past, but I'm relating to a time way before I even joined travelblog. Those who don’t know me would certainly be lost by now…and those who know me well are wondering…where is he going on a public site. Lima is about the story of the relationship between my children and I…way back in time. You all know that I’m an happy single Dad ... read more

Leslie and Tiffany have joined me in Lima since the 5th of February...and I can tell you...it's been a lot of fun the last few days. The school summer holidays are soon over in Buenos Aires. Time to go back to a "normal" life...school and re-settling in our flat for the next four months, and the first part of a new school year. But before that, we still have two weeks of fun in Peru...and this is the first entry of a serie of four of them. We first spent few days in Lima...but as we did two short stays in Lima...that entry will come second. It must have been close to my twentieth visit to Peru....but this one is the one, as it is a first for Leslie and Tiffany! We spent our week-end, aka ... read more

As a human being, you allways try to do better...and when it comes to discover....to go one more step further. Thanks to Chip, I had put for the last few months the Socorro Archipelago way high on my diving wishlist. I've so far dived in 39 countries and my top list would read something like Galapagos, Palau, Protea Bank (South Africa), Tubataha (Philippines), PNG or even Sipadan...all done! So what was going to be a week diving on the Solmar V in Socorro, Mexico? It was pretty impressive...but I'm still not sure it's now my prefered place to dive in the world....yes, I'm a spoiled kid is the way you can put it....but if you have never heard about this...let's say that there is not much better in the world when it comes to dive ... read more

Here we are....the last entry of our little North America excursion...don't worry too much....school is only due to start end of February for Leslie and Tiffany. Another iconic place for our last entry, and actually...more than a place, another iconic drive, this time to the Southern Point of the United States. I had the chance to drive to Key West some years ago with the godfather of Leslie...and that drive was something...I had to do it with Leslie and Tiffany. As we have been driving few miles since the begining of December 2012...few more miles were not really an issue...and the Mustang is the only choice to drive the Keys (with few bags in the trunk!). We could have stay in Key West, but this is high season....and I had no plan to party hard once ... read more

If you've followed Travelblog.org, you are already aware that this is not only a great website, it's also an amazing travel community...a way better way to have unbiaised travel insides...but even better, a great way to meet amazing new friends! I met Mike on a short stop-over 18 months ago for a morning coffee at Miami International. At the time, Leslie and Tiffany where on holidays in Vietnam. Mike is another of these travel addicts Dad...yes, there few of us around, and he his sharing his passion with his 8 years old daughter, Sofia. You can find them on blogger=32409. 18 months ago, I already knew we would be coming to Miami around the end of January 2013 with Leslie and Tiffany for our little North America trip...I know, I tend to plan slightly in advance ... read more

This entry is all and about the joy of two children enjoying...being children! And with that, you can top it up with a verry happy Dad! It was back more than 2 years ago...one day, Leslie was looking at National Geographic...and they had that show about those huge cruiseships....he came to me...Papa can we do one of those one day. Well, I'm not at all into big cruise ships...really not my thing. So if I had to do it, better do it right, better do it for them. At the time, Tiffany was not yet living with us. It didn't took long for Leslie to convince his sister about it...and when she heard Mickey had a boat..actually more than one! Trust me Tiffany became pretty excited too! If there is a cruise you should go with ... read more
