The 7th of January we leave for South America with a 3-days stop in Miami on the way.
We have a trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador in the end of January and we're going camping for a week in the Atacama desert in the beginning of February. We also know that we want to see Macchu Picchu at some point and we're flying home from Buenos Aires (although we have no date for that).
Otherwise we have no plans but will see where the wind takes us!

Hello happy readers! We've been in Arica for more than a month now and we're starting to feel how the travelling nerv is itching again. So I'm here to summarize this past month and the trips we've made. But firstly I'd like to say a few words about Arica. Arica is a quite small but very charming city located in the very north of Chile, by the sea and with the dry desert surroundig it. Valleys, such as the Azapa Valley, stretch out from the outskirt of the city. There you can find many producers of olive oil that is exported to an impressive amount of countries around the world. The tourists come to Arica mainly for the beaches. There are many different beaches on different distances from the city centre. Closest is Chinchorro, a wide ... read more

Hello everyone! We apologize for the late update of this travel blog. When we came to Arica it was so nice to just relax, put your backpack down and not have to move it for a coule of weeks. We have taken a short break in travelling and "lived" a little bit which was just what we needed. After having travelled around in Peru for about 2 weeks we met up with Sebastian (DX) and his cousins at the airport in Lima. From there we had a flight booked to Guayaquil, Ecuador. About 3,5 hours with bus from Guayaquil, right by the sea, is Montañita. A little surfers village, quite touristic, but still very charming. We spent an extremely relaxed week there, we went to the beach during the day and enjoyed the many restaurants and ... read more

Just a few lines for those of you who have heard about the earthquake and the tsunami. We are currently in Arica which is one of the few cities in the whole of Chile that hasn't been affected by the earthquake. We are alive and fine, but chocked. We will write more about the rest of our trip shortly. Lina & Jonna... read more

The trekking! We came to Arequipa at 4 AM and went straight to the hostel were we got a few hours of sleep. The following day we booked the trekking and then went out to have a look at the city of Arequipa. It's called the White City because of the white stone it's build with. We went for a walk and bought an ice cream to cool us down when we met a very short and very talkative little man wihout teeth. He was completely harmless though, so when we offered to give us a little tour of his neighbourhood we agreed. (For those of you who doubt our judgement should take a look at the pictures and you'll see why we trusted him. He was'nt only a head shorter than Jonna, like the average ... read more

Hello! We arrived from Cusco to Puno to find that the buses were on a strike. Our plan had originally been to spend the day on Lago Titicaca and try to find a bud out of there already the same night. As this wouldn't work out, and Puno isn't a very beautiful city (to put it nicely) we decided to go to see the lake from the bolivian side instead. You do that from the little city of Copacabana which is a very nice little place! The first day we went to see Islas Flotantes, which is a floating island made out of straw with little huts on them. Originally they were made by peolpe who wanted to escape from the Incas and therefore just sailed around on the little island, hoping not to float to ... read more

Hello friends and family! We're very happy to tell you that we have survived the Machu Picchu hike in pouring rain, pitch black dark and with a quite bad altitude sickness (Jonna). We left from Cuzco the 17th very early. Our Cuzco hostel was quite party-party so we thought we might aswell go out the night before and sleep on the bus up to Aguas Calientes. We'd booked a trip including bus and train up there, some of the meals and a night at a hostel. Unfortunaly the bus cannot be described as anything else than a mini van with no space whatsoever for us with long legs. But 7 hours spent in the grasshopper position (legs up by the ears) and such bad roads that you started getting worried about the position of your inner ... read more

Hi! We decided to make our stay in Lima a little shorter than planned. It's a nice city but there isn't much to do. We stay in the tourist area called Miraflores which is a very safe area, even during night time. Yesterday we took a walk around area and went to the beach for a while. The temperature has been about 25-27 degrees both days (which was nice after freezing our butts off in Miami) cloudy and very humid. We have a ticket booked to Cuzco and we're leaving in about an hour. We're going by bus for wonderful 21 hours, but we've bought a lot to drink, some fruit, chips and cookies so I think we'll be fine. We'll get back to you as soon as we have something more exciting to tell you ... read more

Hi everyone! This our first entry is written from a surprisingly COLD Miami Beach! We arrived on the 8th, late at night, and it was still 21 degrees out which was lush but only the next day was it pouring down rain and the temperature had dropped several degrees. The next day we woke up with a start at 7 AM, completely jet lagged and completely unable to go back to sleep. That was about the time that our room mate stumbled in after a long night out. We went for a walk (in the rain, which was quite unpleasant) and saw the house where Versace lived and got shot on Ocean Drive. There aren't many touristic things to see on South Beach, the beach is the high light, and since it was raining we couldn't ... read more
