When we arrived in Split, we were being shown to our room, and Kat slipped on the stupidly slippy steps Croatia seems to love (seriously, they are a health and safety nightmare!). We thought we were going to have to go to hospital., Kat fell so hard and was sat in such a sorry little heap at the bottom of the steps, weighed down by Nicholas the bag, wanting to cry and laugh at the same time! In the morning, we hit the beach and put in some serious hours tanning. Sight-seeing has taken a back seat! We found some incredibly cheap lilos in Knin (probably because Knin is in the middle of nowhere, and pretty far from the sea! such a strange place), and spent so much time splashing about and floating aimlessly on Nemo ... read more

Slovakia- "We survived Bratislava"

Long time no blog, we know... But here is an account of our adventures in wonderful Slovakia. We got a train from Krakow to Zakopane, in the hope of only having to wait a short time before the bus to Zdiar, a little village in the middle of the High Tatras mountains. Unfortunately the bus was delayed by about 5 hours, so we ate all our snacks we bought the day before, waffles with cream that pitifully defeated us both, and then pizza (yes it was a logical order), and then felt soooo very ill. We were beginning to imagine hostel hunting in Zakopane, the weirdest little Polish town when, to our immense relief, the bus arrived. At the hostel we met Wally, the dog, Kevin the cat, and Michael and Jackson the chickens. It was ... read more

On the train to Krakow, we were fortunate enough to make the aquaintance of one Johnny Small, a fellow traveller from Edinburgh. We had dinner with him at the station, and exchanged hilarious stories. And Jenna's mouth sort of exploded, which she called a mouth fart- Johnny was thrilled. We arranged to meet him in a pub later, and toddled off to our hostel. Deco Hostel is the best by far. For very little monies we got hotel styley beds, sparkly bathrooms (mr muscle would be proud), a free washing service, a common room with bean bags and tv and xbox, breakfast and lunch, and 50's style deco. We were living like queens! We got a group together, and went to Singer, a bar that had singer sewing machines attached to every table. We found Johnny, ... read more

We woke up from our night in the first hostel in Budapest and had a very cold shower - it was more of a high up tap than a shower. Jenna needs to man up, she barely put her whole body in. We got to the next hostel, which was awesome on first impressions, with balconies over-looking a big communal area. We dumped our bags and found ourselves in a falafel shop (big nom) and then wandered the streets of Budapest without a map. We briefly went back in time along a street that sold only Victorian clothing, through a market from the 70s, and to a fancy restaurant where we decided to indulge in an overpriced coffee. So worth it though. We then climbed castle hill and saw incredible views over the bridges and city. ... read more

So we wrote loads about the first few days in Prague, and then Jenna somehow managed to delete it. So here's a slightly less enthusiastic version! Immediately after our last blog entry, we were forced into a drinking game. Everyone stood in two teams in lines, we had to down our drink, fli the plastic cup over and then it was the next persons turn- we got messy 3 games later, and were bullied into going out. But after waiting for what seemed like an age outside Mc Cafe, everyone decided to go to the 5 storey Europop club which we really didn't fancy. So we went to Chapeaux Rouge with our lovely Swedish girl, Sanna. Shortly after sitting down at a massive table, with our massive pints, we were approached by a big group of ... read more

Amsterdam punishes Jenna

We missed a crucial part of our journey through Amsterdam in our last blog- the Heineken Experience. We made it our policy to stop at every educational video, about brewing... dull. And then went on the world's worst 'ride': a British man with a lisp called 'Alexsch' insanely grinned at us whilst we stood on a moving platform that jolted us about a bit- such a let down after the danger warning signs. We then went to collect our free pints and were chatted up by some large, metal head Brazilians. They spat when talking and apologised a lot for it, and one of them said he was scared of the rainforest because fish fly up your dick- he said dick so many times we were openly laughing at him. Such strange men... We were really ... read more

Yesterday we got soaked to the bone. We bought a 5 euro umbrella with amsterdam written all over it because Jenna gets drawn in by tourism gymicks, and it broke, immediately. But we refused to be defeated- and decided to go to the Red Light District, and then the Erotica Museum to chase the blues away. It worked- massive phallus' (phalli?), a trippy 'childs' play room with pictures of Snow White in langerie and a cartoon of daffy duck and mickey mouse having sex, and a blond exclaiming "OH my Mr Goo, you certainly have a lot of goo!", all watched by a statue of snow white that looks very disturbed- we could only assume it had seen things... Oh and of course the manikin pissing from the ceiling. So we got back to our hostel ... read more

Sooooo.... we´re here! Slept the whole ferry journey doped up on travel calms, never again... they made us feel sedated and groggy. Got told off for sleeping in the restaurant and nearly cried, but we´re here now WAHOOO! Met a lovely man on the train who told us about his sausaaage, so glad we left him behind! But once in Amsterdam all became fine and dandy. We went to a lovely pizza place and had a large Heineken, and then sampled Amsterdam´s finsest in a coffee shop before crashing and burning and having to go straight to bed/ Jenna was being cocky again! Just eaten our body weight in pancakes, and are now off to visit the district of red lights That´s all for now kids, over and out xxx ... read more

After recovering with pancakes in our hostel in Bratislava, we began our journey to Croatia. As we settled in to our 11 hour journey, Kat starts looking at dates in her journal and realises an epic oversight. We thought we had our inter-rail ticket for 4 weeks, when really we had them for a month- that's 4 days we didn't realise we had, and hadn't budgeted for. And there we were rushing down to Split before our inter-rail ticket ran out... could've stayed longer in Slovakia or something couldn't we! We found this news hilarious, and decided a few extra days in the Croatian sun was not a hardship. We got to the hostel seconds before our room was about to be given away- it was the longest journey, we were 6 1/2 hours late! In ... read more

Lots and lots of rain- we finally left the comfort of the apartment and headed into town. We saw the what remains of the wall, and went to a really interesting museum at Checkpoint Charlie on the history of the wall. It felt good to do something cultured having only watched Erin Brokovich so far in Berlin, snuggled up in a duvet. We then moved into our hostel, and then we went to the most amazing Vietnamese restaurant called Hamy. Despite the waiters laughing at us, we had a lovely time :-) When we came back we met our roomie Jeff, and then went to the bar and met some more Americans and 11 hot Swedish 17 year olds! After very little persuading we joined them all on a night out in this amazing club in ... read more
