Well over the last couple days of our trip has been stressful for me trying to decided what clothes I wanted made! In Hoi An there are thousands of tailor shops that make everythnig from suits, jackets, shoes, purses, anything you could think of! The take your measurements right then and then make whatever you would like within a couple of hours. The quality is unbelievable also! I got a pair of pants, a nice jacket and a dressy shirt for going out in. Now im just wondering if i should carry it around the whole trip or send it home! [View Full Entry]

Well after 2 months straight of travelling we decided to settle down in Nha Trang for 6 days. It was some much needed rest and a good break from moving around every couple days. When we arrived in Nha Trang we found the perfect hotel that we would stay in for our time here. It is beautiful. It even has a TV and bathtub, two things that we rarely ever see. We have a friend (Quinn) from Canada that owns a bar here in Nha Trang so he has taken good care of us so far. The first night we got [View Full Entry]

Well we now know why the waves were so big and why it was stormy for our last day in Mui Ne Beach. There was a typhoon coming. We were sleeping in these little bamboo bungalows on the beach and were woken up by huge winds and coconuts and trees flying everywhere. The power then went out. During the night we had no idea it was a typhoon, we just thought it was a normal storm. When we woke up the next day the streets and houses and buildings looked pretty destroyed. The roads were very hard to drive on because [View Full Entry]

rest and relaxation! Asia » Vietnam » Southeast » Mui Ne
Well another amazing stop on our trip has passed us by. Mui Ne beach was very beautiful and the area was very different from anything I had seen before. There were miles of endless coastline along with sand dunes through out the countryside. Mui Ne is definatly a very quiet town. There is only one main street that goes on for a few km's and is filled with different resorts and restaurants. We are staying in a cute little beach bungalow. There is not alot to do here other than go see the surrounding dunes and lay on the beach. Its [View Full Entry]

Well we just finished a two day tour of the Mekong delta in southern Vietnam. It was another amazing experience! After another early rise we headed out of HCMC for the south by a 3 hour bus ride. Once arriving in the first city of My Tho we transferred onto boats. We went all through the canals to a few different islands and seeing the different ways of life on the river. On the different islands there was a bunch of the weird tourist stuff. We got to wrap huge Cobra snakes around ourselves, sample different rice wines, whiskeys, honey, candies, [View Full Entry]

Life on the river

Well i normally don't enjoy the big cities as much as the smaller ones but this one was different. My favorite city so far! It is complete and organized chaos! The buildings are all really nice. In HCMC they tend to build up instead of outwards. Most of the buildings are really high but with only one room on each floor, leading to climbing a lot of stairs! On the roads there are very few cars but millions of bikes! There is not much traffic control and the police officers and Vietnamese have to help the tourists across the streets because [View Full Entry]

Our first beach!! Asia » Cambodia » South » Sihanoukville
Well...after a month and a half of travelling through hills, countryside and villages we have finally made it to the beach. Although its not one of the most beautiful beaches in Asia is was still great! When we got to Sihanoukville we went right to the beach! Within our first 10 minutes we were offered tons of books, postcards, fruit, seafood, manicures, pedicure, massage...anything you could imagine! At first all i wanted was to be left alone to relax. After a while it was fun to talk with all the kids and ladies selling the stuff. We went to a few [View Full Entry]

The Capital City! Asia » Cambodia » South » Phnom Penh
Well from battambang we arrived in Phnom Penh. Not to much to say about Phnom Penh. We mainly just explored the city the first day and got used to the surroundings. The backpacker area in Phnom Penh is really nice. We got a hotel right on the lake. Our room was apparently stayed in by Angilina Jolie the actress so that is why it was the most expensive room at 8$. The sunset from the patio was beautiful! We met another guy from BC that was also staying in our hotel. It was also the first Canadian we had met so [View Full Entry]

Well we have arrived in our second city in cambodia by boat. It is a huge difference from the first. The first city had so many beggars and was very tourist orientated. Battambang is the complete opposite. Because there are no tourists they are no beggars. When we arrived in the city we found 2 friendly moto drivers that could speak very good english. We hired them for the next 2 afternoons of exploring the city. We first went and explored all the surrounding villages and the country side. We went to see rice paper being made, oyster mushroom farm, fish [View Full Entry]

Well over a month into our trip and the culture shock has finally hit me. We entered Cambodia! We were planning on going to Pattaya and Ko Samet but they turned out to be to expensive for us right now. Our journey to Cambodia began at 5am. We took a third class train from thailand the the border. When we crossed over to the cambodia side you could tell the difference right away. It looked like a Garbage dump would in Canada. They roads were not paved and had a million potholes and garbage everywhere! it was not a nice site. [View Full Entry]
