Sorry but this isn't going to be much of a blog. It is more like a quick update before we head off to Ladakh, India to live in a villiage for the last month of our journey. I must apologize for lack of blogs. I do intend on adding blogs for each country but am also pretty sure that won't ever really happen. That doesn't mean that all our adventures are not being recorded however. I am currently on my fifth journal and am expecting to get to a sixth before it's all over. So that means you'll either have to get the tales the old fashioned way by word of mouth or just wait for the book. Just so everyone knows pairedhearts.com is going to be down for a bit. Surprisingly, we filled our space ... read more

I have never had a month go by so fast as the one I just experienced in Ghana. It was a very unique experience and there were some pretty rough times but overall I found it to be amazingly enriching and rewarding. We arrived in Accra several hours late and were picked up by a couple we had never met before. The connection to them is distant but just try and follow. The woman, Jill, is the sister of the boyfriend of the former college roommate of Beth's dad's brother's daughter's husband. That is the most confusing way I could think to say it. More simply, we met Jill's brother Tyler while rafting in the Grand Canyon with a bunch of Bilodeaus. Jill and her boyfriend JJ have been living in Ghana for the last couple ... read more

February 19th 2007

I now understand how people can confidently make the categorical statement that there is nowhere else like India. It is dirty, crowded, and crazy but somehow at the same time it is welcoming, beautiful, and peaceful. The two weeks we spent there took us all over the country but we barely even scratched the surface of what we now know to be there. I am really looking forward to going back in July to live in Ladakh which is up in the Himalayas. An Indian guy we hung out with was very excited for us to go there. He wanted us to go there and enjoy the nature but to keep in mind that it will mess up all your natural rhythms because time doesn't work the same there. Speaking from experience, he told us that ... read more

Whale Whatching in Japan

Japan is very very cool even without having the contrast of China, so for us, it is paradise. We got off the plane, sailed through customs, and just as planned Beth's friend Tandy was there to meet us. She is a pilot so can get all sorts of free flights so she came out to come travel with us for a week. We easily caught our train into town and then when we were dropped into the tangled web they call a subway system and we were looking really lost within 5 minutes two different people came up to us offering help. That is when Beth and I knew finally we were safely outside of the red monster. We got to our hotel, I bought a beer from a vending machine, and then we basically crashed. ... read more
