Hoorah! It is hot and sunny again - we have been sunbathing all day and have also booked an all day snorkelling trip on the Barrier Reef for tomorrow! I can not wait, we are going to hire an underwater camera so we can take lots of photos of the beautiful coral and fishys that we are hoping to see. Have to be at the boat by 8.30am and we dont come back to shore until 5pm, so we have lots of time in the water! We'll give you a full update on how it goes asap!!! x [View Full Entry]

It's hard to believe that we've actually been in Melbourne for 3 months already. Time has flown and although we never really much in the way of work we've had such a good time. Anyway, so this the last of our blogs before move on up to Cairns. Since our little getaway up the Great Ocean Road with been out and about quite a bit. For one the International Comedy Festival has just been on over April and we managed to get to catch Ross Noble, who was absolutely hilarious and Mark Watson, very funny too. The night after that, [View Full Entry]

So we had a nights rest back at our flat and then got ourselves up early, packed a picnic, and headed over to Phillip Island for the day in our speedy little hire car. The "Penguin Parade" was to be the highlight of the day, set to be at 6.30pm, when all the little penguins come in from the sea. In the meantime we did a little exploring of the island. With the summer season over the place was pretty quiet and we were able to stroll along beaches without anyone else around. It was so peaceful and relaxing. At [View Full Entry]

After nearly three months in Melbourne and with our here time shortly coming to an end, we decided it was about time we ventured a saw a bit more of Victoria than we've managed so far. Finally getting round to it, we hired a car and headed out of the city to see the 'Great Ocean Road'. The road itself starts in Torquay, the birthplace of surfing. We didn't actually have a go ourselves, that's yet to happen, but we took a look all the bodies floating around on boards in the sea, most of which don't seem to be [View Full Entry]

So, we're planning to go and see some penguins coming in with their catch to feed their young in a few days, to see some blue whales and oh yeah, to go and experience the Neighbours set and meet the good old characters, Karl, Toady, Harrold, you cant beat 'em. You have probably all heard that we managed to get sacked from the lame, but legit this time, charity job we were doing (thought it would be nice to be doing something good for people with Oesteoporosis.) We WERE doing a rubbish job, true, but we were planted in the [View Full Entry]

For those of you that may be wondering what we are up to at the moment here's a quick update. On the whole, NOT A LOT!! We found our apartment and since then we seem to have focused most of our attention on getting work - without much luck. We both started and quit one last week! Joining the mass of travellers who end up doing the rounds with the clipboards trying to get people to sign up to regular charity donations. It was commission based and we got paid by the number of people we signed up. And guess what, [View Full Entry]

So we're settling into life in Melbourne very easily and absolutely loving it. It took us a while to find somewhere to stay but we've now got ourselves a little apartment in St Kilda East, close to beach and easy access right in the centre of the city. It's also a few mins walk to Chapel Street which houses plenty of boutique, trendy clothes shops to keep Caroline busy. The apartment is great, and has it's own tennis court, swimming pool and BBQ so we're pretty sorted really. We also have a rather friendly possum waiting by the window each night [View Full Entry]

We caught a flight from Newcastle down to Melbourne, 2 hours later we were checking into our hostel. We were immediately impressed and excited by the look of place. Our hostel is right in the centre of things and such a buzz of excitement everywhere we turn. It didn't take us long to decide that we were definately going to try and stop here for a while! So our second day we began to talk about renting an apartment so we can settle here and maybe do some dreaded work. Day three our search was well underway and we were scouring [View Full Entry]

We arrived in Toronto to stay with Caroline's Aunty Maureen and her partner, Peter. We have had a lot of fun staying with them and it has been great to get to know them. We also spent a week house-sitting for Caroline's cousin Tracey. We squeezed in a few day trips to Newcastle but on the whole we did a whole lot of nothing! So not much to say really but here's a few pics... [View Full Entry]
