Greetings from Europe...again! After some very spontaneous planning, spending, and risk taking, I have returned to the continent I have fallen in love with. I lasted an entire 68 days gone from it, but who's counting? This time, I'm going on an adventure with my friend, Devon. We both love traveling, and Europe, and we both think we are princesses, so needless to say... It's going to be awesome. Our traveling started Thursday in the states, with an overnight flight to Barcelona. We got the entire row of seats to ourselves, so I (kinda) got some shut eye. We arrived early morning yesterday and took the airport transfer bus into the area we are staying, called Plaça Catalunya. On the bus ride, our jet lagged conversation went a little like this... Me: "Ya know, it's not ... read more

Someone pinch me. These past 3 weeks have FLOWN by! Our last day in Liverpool, England was spent traveling to Conwy, Wales to tour the Conwy Castle. It was probably my favorite castle we have toured so far. With it's many tours, ocean views, and scenic harbors and landscapes in the background, it was a truly beautiful setting fit for royalty. After stopping in a quaint little tea room, we explored the small harbor town. It reminded me of St. Augustine, Florida...with many tourist-y shops and boutiques. The only difference I really saw was how massive the seagulls flying overhead were. Our group had a farewell dinner in downtown Liverpool, and took part in a pub crawl that started at our hostel. We ended up at The Cavern, a bar and lounge that hosted The Beatles ... read more

What a week it has been! The bad news is...my allergies have been given me a hard time and made me lost my voice. The good news is...I'm still having the time of my life! We arrived in Edinburgh last Saturday and have been busy nonstop with sightseeing and exploring Scotland's capital. Our accommodations were very centrally located...right off the Royal Mile (the most happening and busy street of the city). The highlight of our hostel was the fact the showers were big enough to turn around in and had a separate water closet. And free breakfast. It's the little things, right? The history and architecture of this city is so beautiful and interesting. They have done such an amazing job preserving historic buildings, closes, and relics. There were moments where we would stop, look around, ... read more

I'm in Scotland! Well, I have been for a few days already. But would you believe Wifi access has been spotty in the middle of the Scottish Highlands? Crazy. Anyway, we left Ballintoy and Northern Ireland behind and hopped a ferry to Scotland. We stayed in Glasgow for a few days. It's a big city, just like jacksonville but with much prettier buildings and better nightlife. Like most of the cities I've stayed in on this trip, business and industry is woven into the same beautiful architecture as the tiny street cafés and boutiques. It's a great mixed setting that I could one day see myself thriving in as an entrepreneur. I got a chance to tour the magnificent St. Mungo Cathedral and the Glasgow necropolis. The measures that have been taken to preserve these beautiful ... read more

Yesterday morning, we said goodbye to Dublin and journeyed to Belfast, Northern Ireland. Quick history fact: Ireland is its own republic, but 6 counties are still under United Kingdom's rule. They are called Northern Ireland. The UK is still quite persistent in making sure everyone knows that they have left the Republic of Ireland (UK flags everywhere, street curbs painted red, blue, and white). Just like England and Scotland, Northern Ireland uses Pounds for currency. The exchange rate between U.S. Dollars and Pounds is almost double...meaning when I spend 1 pound, I'm spending $1.77. This difference has been adding up quite a bit and makes me want to cry (sorry, mom, it's not my fault) :( Anyway, buyer's remorse aside, it's been a great time. First, we went to the Titanic museum, which was probably one ... read more

Hello from Dublin! After a beautiful scenic drive through the countryside and touring a monastery, our group arrived in Dublin, Ireland's capital city. It was quite the change from Galway, which was a little more slow paced (and still the most lovely place I've ever been to). The hustle and bustle of the city reminded me of New York City, but without the skyscrapers and smog. The air is still infinitely purer and cleaner here, even in such a big city. Our hostel is a restored Townhouse located right in the middle of the city's action. The antique/decorating enthusiast inside me has been reeling ever since I laid eyes on the character and charm of its antique chandeliers, arched doorways, and gardens. Anyway. Since we've arrived, we have had the chance to explore the nightlife of ... read more

After a very eventful and busy first days, I finally have the opportunity to share them with you! First stop was breakfast at the Castle of Bunnratty. At this time, I became very thankful for the rain jacket I brought with me. After shopping at the gift shop (get excited, mom), we left for the Cliffs of Moher. Sadly, weather was not on our side Wednesday and about all we saw were mist and fog at a very high altitude. Any calories consumed on my flight were quickly burned off by the scenic hike along the trails. At one a point, a family of cows were frolicking next to us. I felt one with nature, really. The Burren was our next stop. Before our arrival, our professor described it as nothing less than a nature phenomenon ... read more

I have officially arrived in Shannon, Ireland! We are 5 hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time...so it's currently about 8 A.M. here. I've been traveling since 10:40 A.M. yesterday, so it feels great to be on the ground! First off, let me just say...investing in first class for an overseas flight is SO worth it. Especially when it's an overnight flight like mine was. Being able to sleep and have a well balanced dinner - amongst other perks - left me feeling refreshed and ready to start our trip this morning! Plus being able to enjoy a little bubbly pre-departure and watch Casablanca over fruit and meat kabobs? Priceless. GREAT NEWS: Not an ounce of jet lag. I literally have so much energy I could run up the Cliffs of Moher (where we are touring today). ... read more

My adventure has officially begun! For those of you who know how "prompt" I am on a regular basis, you will be happy to hear I was on time (even a little early) for my flight this morning. Saying goodbye to my mom, dad, and best friend this morning was bittersweet...I will miss them so much but know I will have so many stories to tell them when I return! I arrived safe and sound in New York. I was lucky to have fairly skinny people on both sides of me on the plane. There wasn't even a battle over who would get the arm rests. Plus I have found a new hobby: people watching at the airport. All I can say is...thank goodness for the airport Starbucks! That Venti Iced Hazelnut Coffee was the perfect ... read more

Passport? Check. Plug converters? Check. Pink rain boots? Check. Packed luggage? Eh, pending. Tomorrow I embark on my study abroad journey to the British Isles - Ireland, Scotland, then London! As some may know, I've never left the western hemisphere before. It'll be the longest I've been away from home, my family, and friends. For two weeks. (I stayed home for college, okay? It's a big deal.) My dad has gone full Liam Neeson from Taken. I couldn't be more excited and nervous at the same time. I spent a solid 45 minutes today in the travel-size section at Target checking, double checking, and triple-checking to make sure I had everything I needed in 3 ounces or less. I spent more money than I'd like to admit. But you know what? You can't put a price ... read more
