(Ness Lake Bible Camp) We’ve finished our first week at this project, and, weather aside, it’s an awesome place to be. Glen & Joyce are staying here through the month of July, and I kind of envy them. When spring hits, it’s going to be gorgeous. But on the other hand, we haven’t seen our grandkids (or kids!) for four months, and I’m missing their hugs~~Glen and Joyce just left theirs, so they’re fine for a couple more months! We’re amazed at how much snow we’ve lost in the week we’ve been here, and that the mud is not even [View Full Entry]

(Ness Lake Bible Camp) Happy Birthday, Megan We left Mt. Gilead Thursday afternoon, headed for Seattle (along Highway 5 this time!) We got there Saturday afternoon, after driving in the mountains the entire trip. I had no idea the Cascades covered so much area, or were so very beautiful. They’re not as steep as the Rockies, with the summit of the lower range being about 4600 feet~~but when you’re starting at 80’ elevation, that’s quite a climb! But it was a gradual climb, on wide roads, so not too hard on the motor home. We didn’t do much sightseeing [View Full Entry]

Icicle plants come in (at least) two varieties~~

(Mt Gilead Bible Camp and Conference Center) This is my last entry from this camp; we will be leaving tomorrow after lunch. Barney & Bea are headed home until fall, but Henry & Ann and Leroy & Arlene are going on to the next project with us, so that’s good. We have 1350 miles to travel (and diesel is $4.34 a gallon…we have a 100 gallon tank~~yikes!) We need to be there by May 2nd (hi, Megan!) but we’ll be spending the weekend in Seattle with a good friend of ours. We, women, have finished painting the bedrooms in the [View Full Entry]

(Mt. Gilead Bible Camp) Tour Day: San Francisco The six of us went to San Francisco today (Bea and Barney went to visit family) and we had the perfect day for being there. It was warm and there was no wind. Wonderful! Bob and I had been there the week before, and it was cool, and by mid-afternoon the wind had come up…not pleasant, weatherwise. But today it was perfect. We all had lunch on Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf, and spent time looking through the shops. There are sea lions that live at that pier, and we spent quite a [View Full Entry]

(Mt. Gilead Bible Camp) Saturday Bob and I drove to Bodega Bay to attend the Fisherman’s Festival (Think: Old Timer’s Festival, or Heritage Days, or Cow Town Hoe Down…most towns have them, just different names!) The highlight of the festival is the boat race. At 10am each team of four gets these supplies: 2- 4x8’ sheets of plywood, 5 strips of 1x2”, 5 strips of 1x1”, a tube of caulk, 3 cups of deck screws, 1 roll of 3 mil plastic and a roll of duct tape. They have three hours to construct a boat that will float two people [View Full Entry]

(Mt. Gilead Bible Camp) Happy 6th Birthday, Daniel!!! Tour Day~~Jelly Belly Factory This is one tour that was full of kids! We opted out of one tour, and waited for the next one (in 10 minutes) hoping for a quieter bunch to travel with! They have a good set up for tours, as you travel along an overhead hallway with glass sides, which wanders through various stages in the plant. At certain points the tour guide would stop and explain what was going on, and then we’d watch a video clip of the process, and in the meantime we could see [View Full Entry]

(Mt. Gilead Bible Camp & Conference Center) Mt Gilead is a year-round conference facility, set in 238 acres of Sequoia Redwoods. It can house over 300 people. We’re about 50 miles north of San Francisco, and 20 miles from the ocean. Because we’re in a canyon, things are spread out in different directions, almost like wings in a school building, with the hub being the dining hall. Direct sunlight is limited here, but so is wind. It very lush, and smells more like the mountains in Montana than it does like redwoods. And it feels like we’re high in the [View Full Entry]

(Mt. Gilead Bible Conference Center) We got here shortly after noon, but man oh man, that’s not the whole story. We left TMC Wednesday morning, as did Dave and Wanda, who are headed to SD for the summer. Wayne and Lois left later Wednesday to head home until January. Peter and Marlene were going to spend a couple more days in Santa Clarita, and then go home until January. Kyle and Carolyn are going to spend a couple more weeks at TMC, working and touring, and then they, too, are finished until January. We traveled Highway 1, which turned into a [View Full Entry]

I’m not kidding…look down this cliff.
Does this give you a clue how hard the wind was blowing?

(The Master's College) This is the smorgasbord of pictures! They've been taken throughout our stay at TMC, and I want to share them. I think the explanations will suffice! We are leaving Wednesday morning, as are Dave and Wanda, who are headed to Arizona to spend time in Mexico...in the daylight. They're then headed to South Dakota for the summer. Wayne and Lois are leaving later in the day, and they're headed home to Albertauntil next January. Peter and Marlene will be leaving for home (Saskatchewan) on Friday, and they, too, are done until next January. Kyle and Carolyn are going [View Full Entry]
