Well... here we are. we are setup. we have a place to live. About 200 meters from the ocean and a bed for everyone. which is nice... it also has a bathroom, something we missed for a couple weeks back. Figured I would through up a few photos of our new pad for this 2 month stint of work. then we are off as of the first week or 2 into september and heading north along the coast. I am working at a welding shop and jackie and sean are still searching for jobs, but with some luck we figure they will be good to go by this week.... read more

well, I am bored after work so I figured I would whip up a quick blog with a map of where we have been too, how many km's driven and the cost of gas around the country. and a list of items we took to be safe in the outback. So here is a quick rundown I guess: Km driven: 12000km's on the truck Map says: 8xxxkm's but doesn't include all sidetracks Where the map doesn't show we were on a road, it is a 4x4 trail or rough road where a high clearance truck is required. 4x4 was never really engaged though, most is doable in 2wd except some deep mud further south and soft sand on the south side around Albany. cost of fuel: too much... These cost breakdowns are for 91 petrol Major ... read more

Day 86 - Perth bound. We pushed hard today and finally arrived around 6pm then 9pm came around and we finally found a hotel.. a cheap hotel. There are a ton downtown but they are all over 200 a night and we don’t want to pay that much. The day was uneventful. With 2 hours of offroading then an hour killed filling tires back up and a small wait as a herd of cows crossed the road. We did enjoy a nice lunch on the side of the road. Now I am tired and lazy.. hence the poorly written blogs… but who reads these anyways. Your all in it for the pictures.. LOL... read more

Day 85 We push on and find ourselves on a loop 4wd track today, the track is not to bad. I did great until we ended up stuck on the beach.. oops. But it wasn’t a real stuck. I dropped the backs to 20psi and the fronts to 30 and away we went. No spin or anything. Although the climb back up was scary. I was just praying we would make it. Lol. That would suck to get stuck on the beach and have to dig.. zomg. We found a little shack someone built and it was good since it rained a bit. We had a lot of trouble getting a fire going but did enjoy a small fire and some burgers to go with that. ... read more

Day 84 July 1st we all know what this means!! HAPPY CANADA DAY!! Woot woot. We had one packed day today. We left Albany and headed to the tourist drive, the first tourist drive we have done in a long while. And I am not gonna lie. Its sorta boring, I mean we see some amazing stuff.. but there are people everywhere. First on the hit list is natural gap and natural bridge. The gap I have no idea on specs by the bridge was 15 meters above the water I do believe. And it showed. It was a stunning sight and I had to go exploring a bit. A good time. Although the wind was damn cold. LOL. Next we head out of town to a 4wd track to a remote campsite. Which meant we ... read more

Day 82 WOW!! Look at all these windmills!! There are 12 to be exact, but hey, I have never seen any before so this is exciting for me. We walk around them take some photos, then look to our left and there it is!! The ocean again, stunning the water is not even that cold. We missed it that’s for sure. And of course we have more rain right now.. so we got a killer deal on a hotel and once again I am sitting here doing blogs.. hmm… how does this work. LOL. ... read more

Day 81 Do the Wave!! Wave rock that is. We of course did the surfer pose. Lol. It was stunning. I couldn’t believe it. I guess I should go back a bit though. We did take Sean out to the mine to have a peak and threw some rocks down to the water. Cause… well.. that’s fun. The trail end is about 40km away… maybe a bit more, I sometimes lose track. This section of track got ugly, with some deep mud and some steep angles to put the truck on with the driver front tire coming off the ground almost a foot due to a slight swing of the tail end as the it slide off the embankment and fell into the mud. But we survived. And made our way into Hyden for a refuel ... read more

Day 80 The pot sat around the smouldering fire all night… and we still have 1cm thick ice on it, the tents are frosted up and the truck is coated… the temperature last night dropped to -6c out. A record for us. With a quick packup we were off. I figure we went about another 60km of trail to our next camp. Along our travels we found an old tool box full of goodies, you take 1 item and you leave 1 item and sign your names. I had to laugh someone left a centerfold and a condom, we took a aussie dollar and left 2 lightbulbs for a truck. A fair deal we figure. At our next camp Jackie and I set off for a walk and as we climbed this hill at the end ... read more
