Day 6 Another easy going day, starting off with another swim. Bad rips again, at knee deep on the sand bar you can feel them trying to rip you off your feet, so it’s back to the baby pool for us. LOL. But we are the only people on the beach again. I guess at 8am not everyone is up. We are still waking up at 6am daily. Maybe 7 if we really try. At least we are making use of everyday to its fullest potential. We decided to go for a walk along the beach, starting in mermaid beach we walked about a km to end up at the pub, what a convenience, Joel met us here after he finished shopping, as that was the reason we walked into town to. We went shopping for ... read more

Day 5 I can get used to this swimming every morning. Although the life saver sign said not to go out past your waist, we had a nasty wind and some big waves for us anyways, the rip was tough to fight so we stayed in the “baby” pool for our own safety. We went on a nice trip out to Springbrook National Park, about an hours drive form mermaid beach, and for starters it begins with a tight little twisty road for about 30km, which would be perfect for the pursuit. LOL. Upon arriving at the 4km loop trail head you walk down along the cliff edge in a beautiful subtropical rainforest; it is lovely and amazing views at the top of the cliff. There is a breeze so it’s actually a little cool for ... read more

Day 3 Another day of swimming in the ocean, twice today. Let me tell you, life is tough. We ventured out of town to the currumbin rock pools, which is a stunning set of small waterfalls in a stream about 30 minute drive from mermaid beach, and well worth the drive. Not to busy and a place to have a nice bbq. The water here was a good relief, the current weather was 31c and the rock pools are a cool and refreshing place to be. A highly recommended stop for sure. Will be taking James and Sam here when they arrive for sure, as I want to get better picture with my rebel. So its win win for everyone. LOL. Later that evening we ended up at Kristen’s friend’s house for a bbq, good meal, ... read more

Day 1 After a not so enjoyable flight of 21 hours, 29 if you include layovers we arrived at Brisbane international airport, in balmy 28c weather, it was hot… way to hot. We met up with Kristen, Jackie’s sister and we were on our way to Mermaid beach where we would be spending the next 2 weeks. The day started of easy, relaxing. We all got bank accounts which was nice to take care of ASAP. Then went and touched the ocean. It was enjoyable for a first day, then we started to hit the pubs and it got out of hand. LOL. A good time was had by all that’s for sure. Did I mention everyone here is super friendly. Sean and I are now known as “Team Green” and as a group we are ... read more

Let the countdown begin. been out shopping preping camera and hiking gear. I seem to be an impulse traveler as I got home from a job I hate sat down and purchased tickets to Australia without consulting my girlfriend. lol. but hey! its the time of a life time so how can you be mad for that. sitting doing research on locations and parks to visit, deciding on weather to buy a car or 4x4... the 4x4 seems very practical to my style of travel... which is anywhere the wind shall take me. Why Australia? its natural untouched beauty, its people, its culture. a chance for me to find myself, as here in Alberta I only seem to work. I guess when I think about it, the reason for this trip is due to some ... read more
