Guess what. Another day on holiday and its 8:00 in the morning and we are waiting for the taxi to take is to Erawan falls at Erawan National park. The falls are a selection of 7 separate falls reaching a total walking distance of around 2 kilometers quite a bit of it is very hard going and some rock climbing is involved, so if your like Tess and got your are in a sling you might find it hard going, but after about 2 hours we made it but to tell you the truth the 4th and 5th are by far the best. Also watch out for the monkeys near level three as they are very cheeky, one acquired a pack of crisps out of my rucksack which was next to my feet then ran up ... read more

08:00 and and we are up and about already. Fresh faced and bushy tailed all ready for an adventure in the jungle. Our very own personal guide met us at our reception with a taxi ticking over and waiting eager to take us on our trek, which was almost two hours away but two hours through some lovely countryside with amazing backdrops of mountains on either side. Once we arrived in the jungle at a village called Karen village our guide offered us a coffee before we started the two hour trek through semi-dense jungle, even though you could see many people had been along this well worn path it was still very hard going with our guides come sherpas hacking down the undergrowth as we pushed forwards. We were shown many creatures whilst trekking and ... read more

A little like a rickshaw to the JEATH War Museum in Kanchanaburi. It is a haunting reconstruction of what the prisoners of war suffered whilst building the bridge over the river Kwai where 16,000 POW's lost there life's then to continue the theme we trundled to the Death railway and research museum where they carried on the theme showing you how the POWs lived and died and what the medical huts looked like, all very upsetting. It reminds you how barbaric the Japanese where to there prisoners. We then took a trip to the far end Of Kanchanaburi where the actual bridge over ... read more

We have left Bangkok behind in the distance our last memories were of two thai women rubbing us up and down. Don't worry we didnt go to the red light district, we just enjoyed a oil massasge. We took a two hour bus ride north to Kanchanaburi on the river Kwai. Our accomadation is basic, a small raft house on the river, no hot water and a few cockroaches who seem to be squatting in our bathroom! we took a boat ride on the river to the Jeath War Museum and the War memorial cemetrey, which was sad but very well maintained, thumbs up to the Thai people who look after it! Further down the river was the infamous "Bridge over the River Kwai" got loads of photos, even managed to get one without any other ... read more

Today has been great..except I didn't realise that my camera stuffed up so now the pics I took are mostly crap and dark. Firstly this morning we took a Songklaew to Hellfire Pass - built by the Allied POWs during WW2. Following this we drove another hour to Erawan Falls. After lunch of fried rice and chicken we proceeded to walk up the falls (there are 7 levels) took us FOREVER to walk up all of them but it was worth it. Alot of the girls in our group got freaked out by the coy fish in the water but I didn't care really...they sucked at their legs every now and then causingg lots of screaming :P Once we got back down to the first level there were heaps of Thai ppl just standing there watching ... read more

Hey people, Even with your complete lack of writing to me, I have decided to continue because it will make you jealous. This is the 2nd time I have written this email, so I apologise if it doesnt make any sence, it got deleted the 1st time. So since the full moon party a fair bit has happened. We went to dinner at a Thai rest. and saw the most hilarious thing to date. All of the workers had t-shirts printed up that were celebrating their Anniversary or something, and they all said 11st Anniversary blah blah blah - 11st not 11th...oh it was gold. On Saturday both Michelle and I went to Anthong National Park where we saw some really awesome stuff. It took about 2 hours by a really slow boat to get to ... read more

Time flies by so quickly here. A few days ago I was in Ayuthaya visiting Wat after Wat after Wat and now I'm in Kanchanaburi about to have a final meal here before heading back to Bangkok. The last few days were spent on a rice barge. That was particularly relaxing. Cruising down the river past monitor lizards, we docked at an elephant sanctuary. There some elephants were being trained. several elephant handlers were stood upon the elephants and firing arrows from longbows (at targets! not us). Old elephants end even baby elephants... Back on the rice barge we cruised, relaxed, had a few beers and played cards. We docked at a monastery, and stayed overnight on the barge before waking early to offer alms to the monks. from there we went on a bike ride ... read more

Well - spent all of Saturday lounging about - naturally going for the excuse of resting and recuperating my ankle - which seemed to work quite well whilst also topping up the tan, which had paled significantly since leaving the beach environment!!! However, Sunday was a different story! A 7 o'clock start found Jen looking decidedly green after a rather rough night (and not alcohol induced!)- and still feeling rather nauseous - but still ludicrously up for doing the day trip! The day trip began at Erawan Waterfall, went on to Krasae Cave, The Death Railway and then via a rather dodgy train onto The Bridge over the River Kwai! Erawan Waterfall is a rather spectacular 7 tier waterfall about 1 hours drive out of Kanchan! Check out the piccies, Jen unfortunately only made it to ... read more

Our trip started out with heavy rain on the way to the southern bus terminal. I’ve never seen such downpour. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this but the best driving I’ve ever seen in my life has been the taxi drivers here in Thailand. Boy, don’t even get me started. Just ask me when you see me if you want details. Leaving to Kanchanaburi is quite convenient from Bangkok. It was about a 2-hour bus drive but a 6-hour drive coming back. Why?!? 5 of the ladies from my building went on this trip, Katie, Megan, Jen, Danna and Logan. We arrived in Kanchanaburi to the usual flogging of guesthouse offers and the cleanest bus terminal bathroom ever!! No joke. I shit you not. I just read in the Bangkok post about a “cleanest toilet ... read more
