We left Koh San Road and headed towards Koh Samui.......An island in the Gulf of Thailand. The route we chose was an over night train......our thinking was that it was ridiculously cheap and it also serves as somewhere to sleep so saves accommodation money. HOWEVER.....sleep did not happen! the railways here are like rollercoasters, It was something like an R KELLY song, constantly bumping and grinding. It took 11 hours....anyway we finally made it too Koh samui and went straight to bed. Going from a massive city to an island is such a big change.....they dont have proper roads...it seems to be hotter and everything is more expensive. We decided to do a tour of the island which included a bit of a safari, elephant trecking and holing monkeys. img=http://photos.travelblog.org/Photos/172932/540315/s/5... read more

Day 24 We relaxed in the hotel and enjoyed our last yummy breakfast there and then later that morning had a mammoth table tennis session. We decided to head to Khao San road mid afternoon as this is where we were getting our bus to Phuket and after spending some time writing our blog and getting an early dinner we arrived at the travel agents to be 'picked up' - there were around ten of us and we had to walk about fifteen minutes to the bus station and a group of Irish travellers lost their friend so there was a bit of a drama! We eventually boarded our bus and as we were called after everybody else we had to sit at the back where the seats hardly reclined and Brett's kept springing forward every ... read more

We left Cambodia feeling like we were going home despite never having been to Bangkok. We arrived nice and early after a long bus journey crossing the border without problems. We got dropped off in a random place with Taxis waiting, but we walked to Khoa San Road and found a hotel fairly quickly. It was really busy with people leaving for The Full Moon Party the next day. Prices were high so our hotel wasn't quite as good as we were hoping for. We decided that we would spend a few days in Bangkok, mainly so that we would escape the crowds that would be around the islands for the party. There is also quite a lot to do so we weren't too fussed about staying. We took our time to explore the city and ... read more

Hello everyone, Just a very brief note as mr Man is closing up for the day. We are all well and have now reached the remote island of Koh Mak after a 5 hour bus journey from busy Bangkok then an overnight stay in Trat - we were the only farangs there! Got here today after one hour ride in very fast speedboat, hold on to your specs, cat and whatever else you may be with. Very quiet here, no other westerners around again, staying in Monkey island huts and off for supper now. Will explore the island tomorrow then write more. lots of love Jenn & Co xx PS thanks for our messages from you , we love reading them.... read more

These past few days have been such a blur....We finally had to say goodbye to our beloved island of Koh Phangan, but only after we bought our tickets, started drinking, and decided to stay another night. Our boat/bus/taxi left at 6am so we decided to just power through the night and not sleep.....worst/best decision of my life. The night was more than enough to make up for the fact that i found myself wishing death upon me in a boiling hot bus station in the middle of nowhere the next day. We made it through though and arrived on the island of Koh Phi Phi yesterday. Before I came on this trip, I would look at pictures from Thailand beaches and assume they had been modified; now I know that is not the case. This island ... read more

Last night was one of the most amazing nights of my entire life. I had heard stories of the infamous "half-moon" parties on Koh Phangan, but nothing could have prepared me for what I just experienced. Lets start from the beginning.....Getting to the party was an adventure within itself; it is located in the middle of lush jungle and takes about 30 minutes by way of Tuk Tuk through windy, trenched roads to get there. You could heard the music from miles away, and as we got closer all you could see was swarms of people covered head to tow in neon paint heading towards what seemed to be nowhere. The Tuk Tuk dropped us off to join the crowd and we were hearded through the dark jungle on a dirt path, only to arrive at ... read more

Today I am writing from an island in the south of Thailand called Koh Phangan. We traveled by train overnight to get to the south which was an adventure within itself. Has anyone ever seen the movie Darjeeling Limited? It was exactly like that, only in Thailand. I asked the guards (machine guns included) where I could smoke and they pointed me to the door at the kaboose of the train. I wasn't sure if they were serious but I opened it anyway and got a view of the Thai countryside from the back of a roaring train, it was anazing. We were woken up at 4am for our stop and I opened my cabin window where I was greeted with a crescent moon sparlking over the rice fields. I though that was the most amazing ... read more
