Hello for the final time!! After a fantastic Thailand hurrah in Phuket we headed to the bus terminal to catch a lift to the airport. Naturally as were told the bus left at half past the hour and arrived with seven minutes to spare, we found that it actually left at twenty past. This was typically frustrating, as it left us stranded with only a more expensive taxi as a means of transport. We arrived at the airport after the luxurious ride with plenty of time to spare after passing our prospective bus shortly after leaving the town. We were a little concerned as we were flying with Air Asia, renowned for its nonchalant baggage handlers. However we arrived into Singapore with no problems. The airport is slightly out of town but is connected to the ... read more

We left Cambodia feeling like we were going home despite never having been to Bangkok. We arrived nice and early after a long bus journey crossing the border without problems. We got dropped off in a random place with Taxis waiting, but we walked to Khoa San Road and found a hotel fairly quickly. It was really busy with people leaving for The Full Moon Party the next day. Prices were high so our hotel wasn't quite as good as we were hoping for. We decided that we would spend a few days in Bangkok, mainly so that we would escape the crowds that would be around the islands for the party. There is also quite a lot to do so we weren't too fussed about staying. We took our time to explore the city and ... read more

Hello again. After a slightly delayed southern Vietnam blog our hotel in Siem Reap has fast and free internet so we have been getting things together bit by bit. We arrived into Cambodia and Phnom Penh on our bus from Ho Chi Minh. We handed in our passports and $20 for the border crossing. The journey took about 6 hours and the border was more efficient than we thought. We had to get out of the coach and take our bags through a x ray machine before getting passports checked, it was quite surreal. After getting back on the bus we drove past a strip of casinos that stood in the middle of nowhere which was also odd. Cambodia is similar in its scenary to Laos but on a slightly more even plane. We arrived into ... read more

Hellloooo!! Hope everyone is keeping well at home. Sorry for the lateish blog, the internet has been understandably been fairly slow in Cambodia. But anyway, after leaving Hue and experiencing a slightly more enjoyable time we headed south to Hoi An feeling optimistic that we would get back on the happy traveller's trail! We arrived in Hoi An after a fairly long day on the bus. We picked a guesthouse to stay in, there are lots in Hoi An but spread fairly sporadically and we got really lucky. We set about discovering the town, which has some amazing French styled architecture that sit on the side of small cramp roads. Again motorbikes are everywhere and it is difficult to escape the constant requests of "Tuk Tuk?" or "Moto?" Hoi An homes lots of small bricky bracky ... read more

Good morning from Vietnam! We arrived into Hanoi after our flight from Vientiane. The journey was fine and we were even given a meal despite the flight only lasting 2 hours. When we arrived into Hanoi we had a rough idea where we would be staying and where we could get the shuttle from. However when we arrived we found we had just missed a shuttle and therefore accepted a lift in a mini van for the same price. Unfortunately this is where th9ings became a little bit tricky; our driver stopped at one point and told us we would need to pay more to continue to our hostel. We refused and played the waiting game. Eventually he continued and we arrived at a completely different hostel, but with the staff and driver tell us that ... read more

Hello again. We would firstly like to say that our current total blog viewings is at 995 and has been translated into 7 languages so good work! As we are now in Vietnam,we thought it now time that we told our Laos story. As previously mentioned we arrived into Chang Kong and crossed the Mekong at the same time crossing the border into Laos. The border control consisted of a couple of people sitting in a small hut saying that we had to pay an extra dollar to get in as it was sunday and they needed overtime to be paid. The principle in itself was highly frustrating and we thought we were going to be in for a rough time throughout Laos. We were taken by Tuk Tuk to a rest area before our long ... read more

We arrived into Thailand after a mammoth bit of travelling. Our flight from Cairns to sydney was fine and gave us great views of the harbour at sunset. We had a very quick turnaround, with literally 15 minutes to spare before our flight to Bangkok. This was very long, bt had good service with Qantas and a fine erray of entertainment on offer to keep us occupied. We arrived into Bangkok at around 1am local time and had a 6 hour wait before our flight to Chiang Mai. All though the troubles seemed to be over we still thought it better to avoid the area, changing our entire Asia travel route, looping Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia in a clockwise direction than our planned anti clockwise method. Our flight to Chiang Mai was fine, but the stay ... read more

Our final installation of Australia is being written with us still in the country. Organised, I think so. We arrived from Rainbow Beach after a day time bus which lost us much of the day, but saved us from another night trip, coming into 1770 Town at 6pm. We met our shuttle person who said that the hostel was 100m down the street. He wasn't far off. The droms were quite nice with a cnetral outdoor eating area and very relaxed atmosphere. We were looking forward to a few lazy days after our excursion to Fraser Island. The town is named after the year that Captain Cook sailed along the coast mapping and generally exploring and is situated close to Agnes Water that we had thought of visiting prior to our trip. The next morning we ... read more

After a really enjoyable spell in Byron Bay we were hoping for a repeat of happy times in Surfers Paradise which we had heard good things about. However, after arriving and walking along the main strip of town we decided that Surfer's was probably not for us. The street was littered with sky-scrapers each vying for their own perfect view of the beach. The population consisted of pretty much all tourists, attracted like moths to the bright lights. The second morning we got to really explore and whilst there was plenty to offer in terms of shopping, bars and colourful happenings it didn't have any sort of culture to back it up. The beach was enormous and at intervals the lifesavers were situated ready to rescue stranded tourists from the severe currents. It wasn't really surfing ... read more

... After our brilliant picnic we got talking to Tom and Vicki who offered us a trip to the Blue Mountains to stay with Pam and John. We were picked up kindly from Manly on Friday and went to meet Tom at work. We managed to miss most of the traffic and arrived at Pam's house that was perched overlooking the valley below. Unfortunately we arrived after dark and were unable to see the views. We had a great Chinese followed by dessert before we headed out onto the veranda to watch the two dogs Chester and Sheila play fighting endlessly. John had a long day of controlled firefighting in the bush planned and left the rest of us to play with the dogs and moths. The next morning we awoke to the fantastic views all ... read more
