We had a great day at the ancient palace. The best part is we got to spend time with baby elephants and I did take pictures but alas....the transfer from my phone to iPad is not working! So as a last resort I took a picture from our balcony :-).... read more

Oct 31 2013 For the 30th and the 31st we did not do anything terribly exciting. We did a bit more exploring, checking out little shops here and there, but most of the shops tend to sell the same items. We did enjoy some time on the beach, whether it was just walking down the beach or throwing the frisbee around. Just about anywhere on the beach there is great people watching and of course lots of beautiful women to look at. On the 31st Sam R. and I walked to a few different places trying to find a company for him to go deep water soloing, since he missed to opportunity to go with me and Sam P. We went to four different companies and all of them either had no one or just one ... read more

Oct 29 2013 Today we got a late start because we needed some clothes that we had sent out in our laundry and it was not ready till about 11am. After a bite to eat we headed to a climbing wall that we knew was going to be in the shade. It was a bright sunny day and pretty darn muggy of course. The climbing wall that we went to is called The Diamond Cave Wall. The reason we chose to climb here was to give Sam P. a chance to get on some easier routes, as well as give Sam R. a chance to do some lead climbing. We started off with me leading a 5.8 so that Sam P. could top rope it. He was able to get up the wall a little bit, ... read more

Oct 26 2013 On this day we were on the hunt for some routes that Sam P. could top rope and Sam R. could potentially lead climb. When we got to the first area, which is over on the Pha Rang Beach, there were people on the easier of the routes so I decided to climb a route a little bit harder to the left of it. It was a good solid climb but we shortly discovered that the rock quality of the easy routes were not very good and the hard routes were a bit too hard for us. After a little bit of bouldering in the same area we went and grabbed some lunch before making our way to another area for some easier routes. The next area we went to in search of ... read more

Oct 24 2013 So the last couple of days were kind of uneventful, but of course we were still having a good time. On the 22nd we rented the scooters for another day, but decided not to leave the hostel till the afternoon because of it was raining a good amount in the morning. Once we did leave the hostel we headed to Koh Ma with Kara and Cassie. We played around on the beach and in the water for a little bit then Kara and I rented a sit on top kayak to paddle around for an hour while Sam and Sam had a bite to eat and a drink. Once Kara and I were done paddling around we all headed back to our place to shower and head to a night market in town ... read more

Curry for breakfast? We decide not, and opt for the less Asian fare of freshly cooked omelette, pastries and pancakes. A walk through the backstreets then took us to the Chao Phrya river where we had an hour long, almost round trip to experience life on the water's edge. No yuppie apartments here. One bank is lower than the other and there were plenty of abandoned houses and even a temple (still with one monk apparently.) But where the banks are inhabited, there are lots of ordinary families in very modest homes. The boat dropped us off at Wat Pho, the most extraordinary Buddhist temple. Stunningly beautiful with the highlight being a giant reclining Buddha. It reminded us of the Saturn V rocket on its side at Cape Canaveral. It was really that big! Arif told ... read more

Geo: 7.00166, 100.47 It was all a bit fraught leaving Koh Phi Phi, because I had stayed an extra day I'm going to have to think of how to cross the border in time but the ferry to Koh Lanta doesn't leave until 11am plus I really picked the wrong route. From Koh Lanta I need to get another 2 car ferries back towards Krabi direction before I can head south which means I'm not going to make it but I'll try the best I can. My bike was secure on the ferry but I was really paranoid as there were no sides where they tied it only the back rail they tied it onto which meant I spent the whole journey watching it as the sea got choppier and we were getting more tossed about. ... read more

Hi!! Sorry haven't blogged in so long I've just been on the move and not feeling very well :( but getting better now finally!! They think it was good poisoning or something? Anyway after a week partying in koh phangan an island off Thailand which was so much fun we are now in Chang Mai. On koh phangan I saw all my school friends and then some friends from primary school-there was 5 of us at one party together on the island at one point. How weird is that? I hadn't seen 3 of them for almost seven years and then we all ended up at exactly the same place at the same time! Just, crazy. Was so so much fun.I stayed with my secondary school friends though in a hostel called the dancing elephant. It ... read more

Hi!! So I arrived in Bangkok after two full days of travelling! It was quite the trek haha but I made it in the end :)So far iv been in Bangkok for two nights and am staying at a lovely hotel, but am soon moving on. Yesterday I went to a temple and visited the 'flower market' which wasn't a market for flowers lol it was a market more for food-I saw lots of corn and eggs actually! There was also raw meat which in one stalk I saw stored unfrozen, in hot conditions with flies all over it. Yummy. The temples main attraction was the huge golden buddha stretched out. it was a beautiful temple, lots of red and gold and it wasn't too busy either because i went later in the day to avoid ... read more
