Oops, hopefully this won't bore you its a lengthy one!! So we finally left Koh Tao aboard a pretty choppy packed boat and had to sit outside to avoid sickness, and we were glad we did as one girl was sick inside the boat and others came out to be sick over the edge NICE!!! When we arrived we didn’t really know where to go, we knew only 2 things 1) we wanted to be somewhere nice for my 30th and 2) we didn’t want to stay in Had Rin where the full moon party is held. We got on a Sawkenthaw and started talking to a couple who were going to a secluded beach a few coves up from Had Rin only accessible by boat called Hat Thian, an ideal spot or so it seemed… ... read more

Wednesday 2nd February We've somehow managed to end up on the back of a pick up truck taxi and sharing with 8 other people. We are assured we are heading for Haad Yao. Its looking like a really nice island as we meander through some steep roads and pass through little villages dotted along our route. We drop some people off and after the last couple got off we were left with just the two of us heading north towards Haad yao. We arrived at the Haad Yao Bay View Resort and after negotiating our rates for the next few nights we were shown to our room which was very nice indeed as it was larger than we're used to and we had four windows looking out towards the hills. We've decided to hire a couple ... read more

Hi Guys, I can't believe how the time has flown by since the last blog. We left Phuket and went back to the beginning of our journey to Krabi and Ao nang briefly before moving on... Krabi to Koh Samui, Bus and ferry The bus was a dilapidated old thing. The mechanic spent about 30 minutes underneath welding it before we got on but obviously didn't cure the problem as we kept having to stop so they could tinker a bit more. All the time our eyes on the clock for fear of missing the ferry. On arrival at the port our ferry had already gone but as it turned out that was a Godsend. We were taken straight onto a different ferry, a fast boat which reduced the crossing time from 1 hour 30 to ... read more

Flight with Thai air was not the best start - despite booking tickets together and rocking up in Heathrow 3 hours prior departure, we were told that we were not able to sit next to each other :). Never happened before and quite a basic thing but at least we arrived on time in Bangkok. Bangkok is interesting (meant in the English way) and there is a really strong smell, which hits you every time you leave the building. We did the tourist thing, visited a couple of wats and Koa san road and bought souvenirs. The highlight was meeting N (Em's friend from Austria) and trying all the different type of transports - boat, taxi, tuktuk, metro and sky train. Bad experience with the tuktuk that drove us into an alley and rubbish tip... Now, ... read more

After 3 days of nursing ourselves back to health and generally climbing the walls, we finally escaped Koh Samui and fled back to Koh Phangan. The main motivation for returning was the Black Moon party taking place at the end of the week. Our VISA deadline sadly meant that we weren't going to be here for the famous Full Moon Party, so the Black Moon would have to do. We decided to stay at a different part of the island, Hat Yao beach, as we were told it was one of the nicest beaches...whilst being far enough away from the 24 hour partying on Hat Rin. We had a strange moment on the way to Hat Yao when the manager of the resort we stayed at last time, Mr Nice. suddenly appeared on a motorbike behind ... read more

Today we didn't do much besides buy our tickets to get to Krabi and relax on the beach. We have to get up early tomorrow (6 am pick up at a resort next to ours – the road to Leela is too treacherous for the taxis…) so we wanted to have an easy day. For dinner we went with Camila and Felipe to the town area and ate at one of the local places for much cheaper than the big restaurants. While we were eating another Chilean couple came in – random! A funny story from last night was that Camila and Felipe and the others got caught without writstbands and the guards or cops (we're not sure what their authority really was) came over so they started running away! Haha...well, one of them grabbed Felipe ... read more

We are really glad we are on Leela Beach because it's only a 10 minute walk from the craziness and the beach is much cleaner and nicer. The party beaches are just gross. Today we put up my hammock and enjoyed the beach. The water is a nice clear blue and there isn’t any moss on the bottom to worry about (though there is the occasional fish head…) and the water was a perfect temperature – cool but not too cold. We met a couple from Santiago, Camila and Felipe, and they have been travelling for a while around these parts and so we hung out with them for the day and into the night. At 10 pm a taxi (100 baht each) left from our place to go to the black moon party with a ... read more

Around 9:30 we were at the second dock waiting for our boat and saw the same rude lady from our bus going there! She works for the company…now we know she definitely didn't buy those two seats, they were given to her for working there! She tried to herd all the people waiting into this tiny area on the side and we decided not to follow her instructions because they were irrelevant. So we waited and the boat from the mainland came around 10 and we all boarded ad were off about twenty minutes later. This time the water wasn’t so rough so most people were fine and I think only one got sick. Two hours later we arrived at the port in Koh Pha Ngan and headed for a big office we saw bearing the ... read more

The full moon is inexplicably linked to lunacy (lunar...lunacy...hmmm). When the golden glowing orb appears in the ink black sky, man goes wild. Some say crimes are more likely to be committed on a full moon while others believe it makes us more susceptible to romance. Can the moon's cycle really effect our mood? Scientists constantly muse over the idea and for years literature and films have shown people turning into wolves and delving into their dark side whenever this celestial body fully shows itself to us. Whether or not a link between the brain and the moon does exist, we humans have found it to be a fine excuse to party. Why not blame it on the moon aye? The Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan, Thailand is all about giving in to one's hedonistic ... read more

Hello Everybody, Hope everybody is well and looking forward to seeing us back home soon! We can't wait to see you all! We are now in Thailand, loving every minute of our time here, except unfortunately on my birthday.... when it decided to pour with rain whilst we were on what was supposed to be a lovely boat day trip to the Ang Thong Islands. I did however manage to have a great evening as we went out for dinner and Abi had arranged with the hotel to get me a birthday cake with candles, where lots of people, including the local Thai children sang happy birthday to me! From Malaysia, our first stop in Thailand was on Ko Phi Phi, a very small but very beautiful island. Whilst here we went on a longtail boat ... read more
