Sorry, again, no pictures. I do, however, have an interesting story to tell about my adventurous day. I was across town in HyeHwa this morning for a meeting, and planned to meet my friend for lunch on my way back home, but she had a last-minute meeting and had to cancel. Since I had no unusual place to go, I decided to read on the subway while I waited to arrive in Sadang where I would transfer to the line going to my home. While I was reading in I was oblivious to the fact that I couldn't hear the station announcements (they were too quiet), so since I wasn't paying close attention, I missed the Sadang station transfer by about 6 stops. By the time I finally realized that I didn't recognize the stations I ... read more
so its american independance day so beth and travis decided to celebrate, so i thought i only fair to join them, and excuse my ignorance but all i know about the day is will smith and a film lol so anywho mr kim kindly let us use the school roof and we had snickers salAD (defeats the object of a salad i know) but it tasted good, pizza, nachos and most importantly meckju - beer , anywho few of the other foreigners joined us and some of the korean teachers and it was fun just to chil out after school, and then we set off a few fireworks from the school roof which was fun too. upcoming events will include the mud festival and a trip to jeju - so i will update this in a ... read more
Hello Everyone! Happy 4th of July if you are in the U.S. In the last blog, the photos all look black. I am not sure why. I tried to upload two of them again without any luck. Sorry. I'll have to show them to you later. If you really want to see them, email me and I can try to email them to you. Nothing much to say here. Just another hot and rainy day in Seoul. No new pictures either. I'll try to do better soon. ... read more
Anyang....... I knew it would be a good one. In fact, I almost predicted to a tee how the day would go. Thankfully it went fabulously. Ususally when I look forward to something it all falls apart. Fortunately (this is where I would tell my elementaries, who love the game "Fortunately, Unfortunately"...."no kids, there wasn't an unfortunately this time, and don't you ruin it for me with your pessimism...".......ok, maybe i wouldn't say that) we made it to the hockey game with ourselves and most of the wobbly pops in one piece (Sean almost lost a limb after he dropped the cooler of beers for the bus ride. That would have been a funny riot...20 screaming Canadians beating on an American in the streets of Itaewon). When we got to the arena I could feel my ... read more
Note: Photos have been deleted from this page because: 1) they didn't show up to begin with, and 2) they have images of my children, which I would rather not show to the public. Sorry I haven't written in so long! It's been a bit busy here, and I forget 1) to take pictures, and 2) to upload them onto the computer. I am finally getting around to it. Today's journal will be short. I've been helping out at an English institute here in Korea that's for children. It's been a great experience, but very time consuming. I'm making some new friends, but unfortunately, it's only for a short time and then we'll return to the U.S. on July 30th. Of course, we're looking forward to getting back to the States soon too. We miss everyone ... read more

Booo hoooo Leahs leaving us! After we had a organised trip out with the GIC to Wando where it pissed down like a racehorse was suspended above us all day! We trekked over to Leahs to wish her bon voyage! The party started on the rooftop with pizza and beer aplenty and lots of drunken people. The usually polite leah was swearing like a trooper thats what booze does to you! After a game of badminton with beth on the roof, and a while of usual waffle and chatter we trekked into down town and ventured to a ghetto club. The koreeans didnt know what hit them one minute the club must have been fairly quiet and then well over 20 waygooks (foreigners) come in and start throwing a few crazy shapes on the dancefloor yeehah! ... read more
Went with the local gic centre (foreign centre) to wan do island to have a gander around. Was a good coachload of us and mooched around a huge tv soap set, not quite coronation street but aw well it is korea. ANyway it was like a mud build shanty town village lol and had a beacharea and a nice pier and boats and stuff so it was cool to have a look around. Then we headed off for dinner, and watching some guys chewing and playing with fish heads wasnt very appetising and needless to say i didnt fancy trying to digest fish bones so i went hungry! the weather is jang ma which is the rainy season and the trip has scheduled to take us to the beach, but hadd changed their plans since it ... read more
a bigger failure rate than my calc 1 class. And that IS saying something. “60 to 70 percent are held back after they’re evaluated (to study the next level)” said my program coordinator. She told me that it wouldn’t happen to me though, that I shouldn’t worry. 60-70%? Yes, I am worried. Then again, Korean language level 1 should be quite the cinch either way. And yet, then again, I should probably be worried about level 1 the most since I’ll probably slack from what I think of potentially easy. Either way, I don’t intend to be held back a class unless the studying involves coming home and studying till 1 am. No way am I doing that every day. And here's a picture of Shee-oo and me! I'll paparazzi the other family members some other ... read more
So here I am, at the end of my first day at my home stay family. I’d like to blurt out everything I want to say in one syllable as I usually like to when writing my entries, which turn out to be incoherent sentences, but I’d like to take my time on this memorable experience. I’ll start on the two little kids. When I first came to the apartment and rang the door bell, I was greeted by a little nine yr old boy who didn’t seem a touch bit shy. He, Shee-oo, was the only one there at the time, and he was all too kind of a host. He knows English quite well, especially for a nine yr old who learns off tapes! I was quite astonished overall of his demeanor and I’m ... read more
