After being thoroughly wowed by the cherry blossom festival in 2010, I decided to go back again this year. The plan was simple; take a bus to Busan and spend the following day in Jinhae. Buses between Busan and Jinhae run every 20-30 minutes so we figured this would be a solid plan. Although this is the most popular cherry blossom festival in Korea (with around 300,000 cherry blossoms and over one million visitors each year) we had no problems with transportation last year. January and February flew by! Since they were my last two months living in Korea, I knew that they would and I wanted to make the most of my final weekends with all the special people that have come into my life in the past year. I also wanted to see all the places and things I'd never managed to get around to in the previous 10 months. After 4 months, my stay in South Korea is coming to an end. the second leg of my international wondering will begin as i hit the ground in Bangkok,Thailand. I think that my time here in Korea was a good starting point for me to dabble a bit in Asian culture and get a taste of things i may experience elsewhere in Asia. things like foreign public transportation, strange new foods and a culture completely different from what i have been accustom to in the states for the past...29 years. so thank you Korea, you've been good to me. and thank you Rachel for being so patient, caring and hospitable to a first time traveler. without you i would have been lost and confused much of the time,not to mention homeless and penniless.i also need to ... read more

Soooooo I can walk!!!!!!!!!! :D!! yey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the six weeks didn't go by too slow but the last few days have been really challenging :/ but I made it and everything worked out- like it always does :). I feel such a magnificent sense of liberation and I am so excited that my exploration of Korea will again commence in the next weeks and months :D. Annyeong haseyo!! So I'm getting less homesick these days and embracing being here more each day :). Although I still miss everyone so much (but I'm lucky that I miss you all so much because it means that I have an amazing life filled with incredibly wonderful people ;)). So I wanted to include a few interesting and or funny things about my hospital experience... First of all my co teacher informed me that I would have to bring my own chopsticks and spoon to the hospital (thought that was interesante).
