JUMP! for joy Asia
This weekend we got together with a bunch of foreigners to go see the amazingly talented performers in the production JUMP! It's along the same lines as Cirque du Soleil, in that they tell a story with no words, just actions and sounds, but rather than acrobatics, this show is based on martial arts. And it was amazing! First of all, there were about 20 foreigners at this show so most of us ran into some of our students at some point (they would say "Teacher hi" then run away if you asked them anything beyond that) and I think most [View Full Entry]

Hello family and friends! December is upon us! We have reached our 3 month mark, and cannot believe how quickly time is flying! How many of you have put up your Christmas decorations already? It doesn't really feel like the Christmas season here, yet, but hopefully that will come! It's been a couple weeks since our last post, so here is what we have been up to since then! We went to see an amazingly talented Korean jazz singer with a few friends last Saturday. Her name is Nah Youn Sun (나 윤 선) and she is fantastic! She was playing [View Full Entry]

So every year Tim Horton's hypnotizes the nation with their Roll up the Rim to Win contest and people will go out of their way to get their cup of coffee that just might get them a free donut or coffee...if they are lucky. I, for one, have never had any luck with this contest and have become immune to it's power (besides the fact that I don't like being told that i'm a loser repeatedly! lol). I thought I was stronger than the rest in my ability to resist going, because I never won anyways. Well, this has all changed [View Full Entry]

Cheryl and I are back from our trip to S Korea to visit Danielle & Mike on their Great Korean Adventure. It was an awesome experience. We are so glad that we decided to go. It was great to see Danielle & Mike. Although they have only been gone for a couple months, we missed them very much. I looked to us that they are having a great time, and are adjusting well. It is such a different culture there, I’m sure there were moments that were difficult but they seem to have handled it fine. We’re not sure if we [View Full Entry]

October has been an exciting month for us here, and it only got better when we found out my parents were coming for a visit!! They arrived in Yangsan on Wed. Oct. 21 and left the following Monday, and in that short time, we let them experience as much of the Korean culture as possible. They had a great trip and loved Korea :) Love Motels Yangsan is a small city by Korean standards (about 400,000 maybe?) and so there are no hotels in the city, only motels and we were lucky because a new one had recently opened down the [View Full Entry]

I thought I would write a blog with some more info about my school now that I have been there for a few weeks. Those of you who are teachers will get a kick out of some of the things they do here (and I don’t necessarily mean that in a good way!). There are just over 1000 students in my school, and I teach every single one of them! I teach the first years every week and the second and third years only every other week - so most students I only see twice a month! Students here wear uniforms [View Full Entry]

This weekend we spent the weekend exploring more of our neighbouring city, Busan, and the markets. Saturday we boarded the big, red, double decker city bus to take a tour of Busan and see some new sights. We saw some beautiful parks and beaches and met a few other foreigners allow the way! Though the first part of the tour was really rushed, it gave us ideas of places to go back and visit. Since Busan is a port city, there are trails all along the coast, so you could walk for hours staring out at the huge ships and never-ending [View Full Entry]
