Ok, so the pictures are coming, I swear! But when you have over 1000 pictures, it takes a LONG time to get them all figured out. Soon, very soon. In the mean time, I have been doing a lot of thinking about what will be next in my life of adventures, for no matter where I am, it is an adventure! So my most recent thoughts have been looking into the world of communication. No, nothing to do with Media, but instead looking at the very basics of all humanity, the art form that is communicating. I have always been interested in Sociology and I even took it as a sort of unofficial Minor in University along side of my Music degree. After completing my year of Teacher's College, I became even more aware of "good" ... read more

Today I awoke to my alarm. An alarm with the purpose of awaking me for the morning job of taking my temperature. Today I am in quarantine. A quarantine that started 5 nights and 4 days ago. Today my voice is starting to return. I long to sing again. Today the sun is shinning, but I must stay inside. I must stay inside because I am in quarantine. I am not sick. Today I enjoyed 2 short intervals of human interaction beyond the walls of my apartment. I had to get food. The time was short but the walk was slow. Today I made someone laugh. In turn, also making me laugh. Today I said goodbye to 2 friends. Colleagues turn friends. Friends turn Art collaborators. Today I cried. Elisa (Ashley and Alicia - you will ... read more

It's been so long since my last post I honestly have no idea about time or dates of any events, but once again, I'll do my best... As always I've stayed pretty busy on the weekends, getting out and seeing as much as I can. One of my roommates from grad school hooked me up with a friend she has in Korea and together we checked out Gyeongbok Palace. Despite the phony tourist bullshit, this place was really cool. It was originally constructed in 1394 and was the main and largest palace of the Joseon Dynasty. I've also made every attempt possible to get outside of Seoul as well. My favorite means of escape? Hiking. Korea has so many beautiful mountains and they are flooded with people on the weekends looking to get their hike ... read more

This Spring has been wonderfully full of adventure! We started it last weekend with a very busy, very fun trip down to Busan! The Cherry Blossoms were at their peak and the weather was perfect! It involved going over 300km/hr on a train, riding roller coasters, going to the biggest Hot Springs in Asia, seeing Sharks up REALLY close, a trip to the hospital (not me!), a fascinating and disgusting Fish Market, Candie Strawberries (INCREDIBLE!), potato/apple homemade hashbrowns each morning, celebrating a co-hostel traveler's birthday, and oh yeah, LOTS of walking! I will explain more later, but this is just a little taste as to what we have been up to. Yesterday was Art day at Lake Park and it was beautiful! Now the Cherry Blossoms are here in the greater Seoul area as well as ... read more

It is nearing the end of March and the buds have popped their little heads out on the trees and bushes. Very soon the landscape will be filling with beautifully intoxicating smells and sights of the luscious Cherry Blossoms. In order to really appreciate this noteable time here in Asia; Sarah, Jeff and I are taking a brief vacation down to Busan next weekend. ... read more

I' haven't exactly been on the ball with my blog lately, and combined with my AWESOME memory this one will more than likely have a few gaps. However, I'm going to attempt to summarize an eventful four weeks in one blog. I'll start with my second weekend in Korea we made the journey to Nami Island. I was unfamiliar with Nami before I visited, but to anyone who is familiar with Korean drama's, specifically "Winter Sonata" will know it well. Nami, like almost everywhere else in Korea, is a couples scene, where lovers go to show off their relationship to the masses and reminisce over images from the original sappy-ass Korean mini series. We started the trip just walking around, taking in the sites, and at some point a camera crew spotting the "waygooks" and forced ... read more

So I have now been living here in South Korea for over a year. I arrived Feb. 9th of 2008 and this past year has flown by as if it was a dream in the wind. This post is in tribute to the various friends I have made here in Korea. Also including my brother Jeffrey and my friend from home, Sarah C., who has since come to join me here in both living and working. :) Friend for a moment or for friend for life, each is precious in its time. So today was my Kindergarten students graduation. While I've only been with them a week, I'm actually going to miss the lil buggers because they are so freaking sweet. It was one of those experiences where you try and go the whole day without laughing because you couldn't believe what was actually happening, but you hold back out of respect because you know this is how they do things. For example, in between the parents holding up signs like we were at a sporting event, music ranging from the 20th Century Fox theme, the James Bond and Mission Impossible themes, and yes, even the Adam's family theme, I found myself dieing at the sheer ridiculousness of the children's costumes, dance numbers, and their own version of one of my favorite childhood stories, Pinocchio. With that being ... read more
