Yesterday took me to Sentosa Island, which is an amusement park which takes up the WHOLE island. That's right, the island in it's entirety, is an amusement park. On entering the park it really is a spectacular sight. The amount of attractions and things to do is immense, but if I thought that Monday was hot, well guess what? The heat on Tuesday was so enveloping it made it hard just to walk 5-10 mins down the street. But thank goodness there was plenty of transportation around the island. The only problem with the sheer size of the resort is the fact that everytime you want to do something else you have to get a bus. Now with the more laid back attitude of the place, getting on a bus isn't a problem, it's actually leaving ... read more

I decided to do some exploring today. I usually have my first day anywhere purely exploring, deciding and finding places to go. Usually this is a good idea. But as this is Singapore most people would have thought about the humidity. Not me. I enjoyed my trekking about but admittedly it's like being in a sauna! I started off going to the National Museum of Singapore which was intensive, beautifully put together and a real pleasure to view. It's not like so many other museums where it's laid out and you read every tab, they give you an audio piece so that you can listen to the tour as you go along, but you choose where you go and what you listen to. There were two routes in the history part of the museum "Events" and ... read more

Not much to write here for now, but this is my final stop, Singapore for four days and then the inevitable return to the UK. After having met a couple of people in Cairns who had been to Singapore I have more lined up for me then I'd initially anticipated. Lots of museums and Chinese heritage and Sentosa Island. They've turned the island into an adventure park! Who would have thought? If you get a chance google it now! I just hope there's not too much rain.... read more

Pieneen hissiin tuli 3 muuta HK:laista. Mietin j... read more

10.25pm: We're at Changi after a good flight from Perth in cattle class. No upgrade on the first leg and, we've just discovered, none on the second, either. Ah, well, on the long haul we'll just have to slum it in premium economy. Is that Aberdeen Angus class? On the first leg, we were in a middle row of four but there was no one in the seat to May's left. At first, I was pleased to see that an old granny was sitting directly in front of me...no chance of HER putting her seat back. Yeah, right. Just goes to show that looks can be deceptive. She would probably have mugged me as well, given half a chance. May and I both watched Animal Kingdom, I think the best Australian movie since Lantana. It's about ... read more

We left good old Oz flying Qantas. I know they get a bagging but we had a great flight even with a delay. The kids were very well behaved. Very excited though. Very warm and muggy in Singapore, especially after leaving freezing Bridgetown. We went to a food hall for dinner, kids tried something new which was great considering a Macdonalds was right there. Great start to our 14 week world trip. Care Factor - Qantas flight CF 7 (nb would have been higher if we didn't have all male cabin crew. Richard B has the idea with his cabin crew but Qantas service is so much better). Singapore food and hotel CF 8. Off to Bali today (Alex thinks it is called Bali Street, just like at home).... read more

It is finally here. After many years of waiting and planning, we are finally off, to Europe. I woke up early, for the last time in my bed for 25 days. I ate my last bowl of weetbix for 25 days and organized the final things that I needed to pack. We were to drive to Uncle Freds and Auntie Babaras to leave Nanas car, which was with us, then Mum would drive us the rest of the way to the airport, which is only 5 minutes. We said goodbye to Tim and Shadow, leaving them on the veranda as we drove off to the airport. When we arrived, we found the Singapore Airlines queue and joined it, but then after 20 or so minutes we realised that because we had printed our tickets already online ... read more

Hi everyone! Greetings from the first stop of my longggg flight. This is the first time I have been to Singapore International and it's definitely got everything you could ever think of buying...I have my eye on some gorgeously chunky Swarovski rings but we'll see :) The trip over has gone relatively fast so far, and the lovely Qantas peope plied us with so much food I didn't even eat half of it. So much! My body is on the Brisbane time of 11:30pm so hopefully I will sleep most of this next leg to Heathrow, London. From there it is only a two-hour stop-over to wait until I am bound for Roma!! Bravo! Can not wait. Can someone say Gelato? (and 'Edwardo', of course!) Will update once in Italy! Much love to you all xx ... read more
