12/3 Taal Volcanoe & Hacienda Isabella Still monitoring the situation in Thailand. Looks like we may have to skip that trip due to the unrest in the area. Sometimes you can't plan for certain circumstances on a trip... rain delays, flight cancellations, coup d'etats. Ya know, the usual. Anyways, a little later start today Tara and I hit the road with Izzy and Cesca to Tagaytay where we plan on hiking up Taal Volcanoe. The two hour drive down south of Manila was rather quick. Soon we are gretted by tons of boat guides looking for business since the volcanoe is only accessible by bancas. It doesn't take long to realize that the price goes way up with whitey in the car. So the girls decide to hide me with some sweaters and pillows in ... read more

My baby’s back! She was away for 2 months and I have missed our travels together. In the process though, I discovered a lot from my suburban home at Quezon City. I will be blogging about this on my next journal. Going back to our Tagaytay trip, Maan H (H for Hilvano), as we fondly call Val’s best friend, celebrated her birthday at Tagaytay with us and her boyfriend Jaqui. Featured sites include the newly discovered T-House, a more affordable alternative but not as fancy as the Boutique, The Taj, a restaurant which is uniquely India in its spices and finally, The Cliff house with a lot of restaurants to choose from in one stop such as Buon Giorno!, Platito, Domicillo, Fruits in ice cream. P.S. Don’t be afraid of the P100 parking fee at the ... read more

Me and my best friend planned on going to an amusement park in Batangas. It's called Enchanted Kingdom and it has the only decent roller coaster in the country (as far as I know but I really don't know much so don't count on me). I had my two brothers and a cousin with us and also a driver (I can't drive). We arrived there just before noon but we found out that the park wasn't opened yet until 2pm and we had to wait for like 4hours. It was so hot so I decided to do something until they opened and since Tagaytay isn't so far I asked the driver to take us there. I was hoping it would be a little cool there since it's on a higher altitude. I wanted to check out ... read more

After more than 3 years of working in the hotel industry, I decided to call it quits. Val & I are ready for a new life adventure. Val's going to the USA to apply for her residency, while I join the nearby IBM call center. As soon I resigned, I had a month vacation before joining my new company. Val & I spent quality time at our favorite nearby vacation destination - Tagaytay. We first had lunch on our favorite super-size back rib restaurant ... the Boutique. After lunch, we checked in at Nurture Spa wherein we stayed in one of their cottages which has its own massage area, bathtub but no tv! TNurture Spa also have nipa huts available but I don't encourage staying there because you have to go down the ladder of the ... read more

Hola and back by popular demand (well just kidding but I guess two or three asked about the volcano). So Nono, Oliver, and Dennis picked me up at the hotel and we headed off to Tagaytay. We had been in the car about 10 minutes when I announced that I had now officially seen more of Manila than I’d seen in my entire last trip here. It was fun to drive through town, see all the people about on a Sunday. Manila has many dichotomies of class - huge modern skyscrapers around the corner from shacks on the side of the road with goats walking along the side of the road. I think that’s nuts. The guys got a kick out of me announcing whenever I saw a rooster or goat, and I had to explain, ... read more

Aisde from staying at the Boutique, we decided to try out the different restaurants of Tagaytay. Thursday lunch in Manos Greek Tavern (the baklava was too sweet, the moussaka was delicious), dinner at Hawaiian babyback ribs at The Boutique (mouth-watering and enough of a reason to come back again and again), breakfast in bed courtesy of The Boutique and Friday lunch at Gourmet's cafe (salads are their expertise and they have their own farm and produce store) ending with buco tarts to bring home from Amira's. ... read more

We stayed at the Boutique Bed & Breakfast on May 30 and left on June 1, 2007. It seemed like we stayed for a month. It felt timeless. Just the right vacation we needed on a rainy end of May. I just took my paternity leave from The Ascott Hotel (formerly Oakwood Makati). It was unfortunate that last month, Val & I lost our 3 month old baby. Val & I are still finding ourselves back to this beautiful world we have. Accept things we cannot change and I guess try again as most of our friends would say. Inspired with this, we had to add flavor to our relationship, remove the pressure of fatherhood, let's think of Blessed Sex! Baby, I lust for you!!! The Boutique has just provided us the right atmosphere. This place ... read more

Arranged a tour out to TAAL Volcano. This was a fairly soft day overall, but I did get to walk up another volcano, and admire the view. Typical arranged tour, with standard stops at fruit stalls, etc of the driver's choice. As the only pax for this trip for this company, was given the VIP treatment - I think that meant that I could ask anything, and then just had to take the response with a grain of salt. Trip across the lake to the island was by a motorised outrigger canoe. Basically a fibreglass hull with bamboo trunk outriggers on both sides. Was raining, but not badly, and it stopped by the time we reached the island. As we walked up to the track to the volcano, there was a yard full of horses and ... read more

After just a day of rest, we were off to Tagaytay once more this time to celebrate Nanay's birthday. We had seen the Caleruega Church and learned of its campsite 3 days prior to this trip and had planned to go back to camp there. We oh so love the place - lots of trees, cool weather, nice grass covered lawn, the sound of creatures all around - perfect for staying overnight. We asked nanay and carlo, ikee's cousin, to come with us. Ikee and Boyet did the reservation the day before while I was enrolling for the 1st sem. Lunch was at View site Restaurant. We had filipino food - bulalo, steamed pla-pla, adobong kangkong, and ensaladang talong. The rest of the day was basically the same as what we had done during Ikee's birthday. ... read more
