It looks like the weather will stay on our side today. Unlike the last couple of days; we were treated with rain, hail, and heavy winds. I was eager to reach our next stop just so I could put my feet up and enjoy the clear view. "How much longer DB?" He was at least 20 paces ahead. "Pardon?" "How much longer before we get to the next place?" "Maybe 2- 2 1/2 hours." He noticed my disapointment. "Are you tired?" "I'm ok." I lied. As usual. ------------------------------------------------------------- I looked at the Machapuchare in the morning sunlight. "So why can't we climb it?" I asked DB. "Nobody can climb it. It's a holy mountain." "I know you said that but why is it holy?" He was quiet so I pressed on, "There had to be a ... read more

Hi folks, Just a quick run down of a very relaxed time in Pokhara next to the lake... well relaxed after Linz had had the usual argument with the hotel owner regarding the room price (they tell you 150 NRs when you get into their free transfer but it inflates to 300 when you get to the hotel). Naturally Linz won and we spent 3 very confortable nights by the lake. Pokhara is unbelievably beautiful (and would have been even more so if we could have seen the Annapurna's, but it was too misty whilst we were there.), with the huge lake and foot hills below the towering Himalayas behind. There are trekking shops everywhere that sell unashamedly cheap knock offs brandishing labels such as North Face and Lowe Alpine. Everything is, however, very, very cheap ... read more

This is just a REALLY QUICK entry to let everyone know what's up :) We've been here in Pokhara for about 5 days now and it's beautiful! Tomorrow we're heading off for a 3 week trek in the Himalayas, trekking the 'Annapurna Circuit' if anyone wants to look it up! Very very excited, we've bought heaps of new gear cheap so we're all kitted out. End line - out of contact for the next 3 weeks having the time of our lives, expect a million photos when we come back. Take care everyone!!! Love love love love :) p.s. - happy birthday Patrick :) Congratulations Emma and Michael!!! Good luck Hayley :) Miss you all!... read more

Men vi gjorde ... read more

I am in a terrible position. The girl who was looking after my cats is now taking them to the spca. I have to fly home if I cannot find a home in the next two days (the next available flight). If anyone could possibly take them, please let me know asap, or if you know anyone. I know this is a longshot, but is my last resort before flying home - they are all I have left from the fire. With sadness, Heide... read more

Hi all, We have been up to Pokhara and are now back in Kathmandu waiting for our flight to Delhi this afternoon. 4 days in Kathmandu were enough, saw the big stupas (Swayambunath and Bodnath- see photos) that everyone knows. Did a lot of shopping and eating and not much else. Then caught the bus to Pokhara 6 hrs ? 200Km. Which is on gorgeous lake Phewa (again photos) we stayed for the first 2 nights at a hotel on the water in a stone Nepali style cottage which was lovely but very expensive. The first 5 mins we were there Clayton ate 'the best ever BLT' and was ferociously sick for the next 24hrs. After he recovered we had a fantastic day motorbiking in the countryside, during which we had to pay a small payment/bribe ... read more

Voitteko uskoa, etta sellaisiakin on rinkkaan kertynyt?... Kaikkea sita tuleekin kannettua mukanaan... Olemme kiinnittaneet huomiota muutamiin hauskoihin nepalilaisiin tapoihin, joita ei nae muualla maailmassa. Paikallisen tavan mukaan muunmuassa rahat otetaan va... read more

Hi every one-sorry this is such a late entry but this is a tough cookie to crack when trying to blog on for the first time... So where do i begin...Day 1 of my travels started with an early touch down into Dehli International airport @ 5am on the morning, 31st of October. Thankfully to be met by a friendly face-Simon. First things first was to give my self the shock treatment of taking a 3 wheeled autorickshaw from the airport to Parganj (sp?) in the heart of Old Dehli! My lord, eyes where definitly wide opened after that. Chucked my bags a room up from Simon and headed out for breaky. (Now take to note that ive been advised left, right and centre on what and not to eat from fellow travellers, I did not ... read more
