First Day Whoo it's my first day here. So tired. Got off a 14 hour flight, ears didn't pop as badly this time. I made a friend, a Japanese lady sitting next to me, her name is Misa. I got to practice a little Japanese since she didn't know English. When she saw me cover my years, she offered me yummy grape candy =D Then we got through customs, I saw two people holding a Thai passport and asked in Thai if they've ever been here and to direct me to the luggage retrieval place. They saw my passport and was like "why is your passport like that?" great... so i can't pass for Thai. Oh, but i did pass for Japanese on the plane cuz multiple flight attendants spoke to me first in Japanese. ... read more

Well the day of the real reason I cam to Tokyo, The Tokyo Game Show! Lemme tell you it was awesome! Didn't get to play as many games as I wanted to but the experience was just mind blowing! I got to check out so many new and upcoming games and meet developers all over the world. The displays were phenomenal. I also realized I should have applied for the business days if i wanted to stand a chance playing alot of the demos. The demos i got to check out and play were: Heavy Rain, Metal Gear Solid Peacewalkers (I have the demo on my psp! Hurray!), Winning Eleven 2010, and the new DBZ Game. Most line ups for trying the game were about 3 hours wait and by the time we got to the ... read more

Hey. Well this is my final entry. Yesterday was pretty uneventful. All this travel has caught up to us i think. We're pretty shattered at the moment. So we did some washing and chilled at home with some music. Cold and wet too so going out was kinda pointless. Went into Tokyo last night, but we bailed after about 2hrs. Today (sat) we're off to the Tokyo Dome to see a Baseball game. Really excited about this. Nothing planned after that. Before airport we may have a look around Narita if we can. ok guys, will see you all in a few days! ... read more

So how has the first 24 hours in Japan been so far? A bit like being the ball in a giant pin-ball machine. Bouncing around from here to there amidst bright lights and lots of sound. After a mind numbing 17 hours on airplanes, Kaori's father met us at the airport to take us to their home. After having been awake for over 24 hours, we should have felt it but I think both of our brains were abuzz with finally being here, me especially. The home Kaori grew up in is down a rabbit warren of tiny lanes in the neighborhood of Narashino in Chiba Prefecture. It's warm and smells of incense burned by Kaori's mother and wouldn't be out of place in the U.S. if it weren't for the tatami matted room containing Kaori's ... read more

Day 6: Meeting CIEE Program 10:00am: I woke up, took shower, fixed self, went online, fixed bed, packed, wrote letter to Ate Reci & Aimi. 12:00pm: I left to go to the train station with my heavy suitcase, bookbag, and a plastic bag of clothes. 12:05pm: The train I took stopped at Minami-Urawa and changed to RAPID to Kamata. I left the train because Ate Reci said that if I'm unsure, leave the train. I went out of the train, back on, back out, walked to one side of the train platform, walked to the other side, looked at the signs, and finally I admitted I'm confused. I couldn't find the Omiya train. 12:15pm: I asked a stranger and my mind went Japanese blank...I panicked and pointed at the train and said in Japanese, "Excuse me, ... read more

Our flight out of Winnipeg was quite ordinary. Thanks to my Dad, we arrived at YWG only to have to wait in one of the longest lines I have ever seen at the Winnipeg Airport. Over 300 people, waiting to go through security in Winnipeg. It appears that everyone had flights leaving at 8:00. The start of the Friday 13th curse. With the line seeming to move backwards at times, what better way to pass our time then people watch. And where better than in a stress inducing line up. I love putting a story to everyone I see and we were quickly treated to some pretty "interesting" people. Airports have several different types of travelers. We quickly were able to point out the seasoned travelers. They always seem so zen like as they never rush ... read more
