Day 11 Off to the races! This morning we met our driver at 7:00am in the hotel lobby and started on the road to Negara for the buffalo races. We were about 20 minutes driving time from the Jimbarwana Hotel, the hotel we ended up staying at. If I never saw that hotel again that would be OK with me. The rooms certainly weren’t worth what we paid and they weren’t negotiable on the rates at all. The kind gentleman behind the desk explained that the hotel is government owned and it is impossible to negotiate. On the way we saw more beautiful countryside. This was clearly a more rural village and there are few tourists. We approached the races and parked the car. I could tell right away this was going to be worth the ... read more
Day 10 The drive Today was check out day at The Grand Bali in Nusa Dua. Peter negotiated and found a driver for $40 a day. Every night while in Nusa we had talked to a shop owner named Matt (that is what he had us call him) and he said he had a friend that needs a job. Before you knew it we were talking his friend via Matts phone. The driver (named Mogley, like the character in Jungle Book) picked us up at 11:00 and off we went. We had a route planned out in our heads but we were flexible if he thought there was something else of interest he would let us know. Our first stop is in Celuk. On the way to Celuk we passed through the town of Sanur, and ... read more
Sledil je obisk war memoriala v Cekiku, in sicer v ... read more
On the way to Bali (Indonesia) we stopped at Singapore. It was like a city from the 22 century ,all chrome glass and air conditioning. We stayed in a Massive beautiful hotel called Crowne plaza , It was awesome we were only staying 1 night but the room was good enough to live in, with a flat screen TV 2 big comfy double beds a giant bathroom with a bath and a shower warm towels and a dressing gown for every one, plus a huge pool. We went on a sky train, which really goes in the sky, without taking off. They were absolutely immaculate, there wasn't a single piece of chewing gum or rubbish on the floor anywhere in Singapore. Bali....One word to describe Bali is HOT. Another way to describe Bali is HUMID. ... read more
Back to our second home Hotel Courtyard, and Pujan and Michelle in Kathmandu Then off to Singapore!!!
Published: February 7th 2009Asia » Indonesia » Bali » NegaraHello everyone from Bali, and Singapore before that. We were hoping to blog from Singapore, but it was all a bit rushed. The flight was only 2 hours and forty minutes, our shortest yet, in the biggest plane yet a 777. Our hotel was faaaaaaaaantastic. It had a pool, the restaurant had food from everywhere in the world - I had a bit of everything, Mum and Dad ate until they felt sick. Singapore is like a future world. It has all sorts of technology, and is incredibly clean - we still think Kathmandu was very special though. Oli summed it up by saying I'm sad to leave the Courtyard Hotel, but I'm excited to be going somewhere else, and we all feel a bit like this. In Bali it is HOT and HUMID. Mum says ... read more
