Hi and thanks to everyone who has been following and commenting on the blog!!!!! To stay in touch we have been in internet cafe's all over the world! I think some of the global gossip internet cafe's in new Zealand relied on us. Oh and please, please, please stay in touch my email is hannah@heleniles.co.uk because I wont be opening the blog UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!! (I wish) This blog is about New York and our time with Dan, Sarah and Cerys in London. New York You can see the statue of Liberty from Manhattan Island but it just looks like a small old statue but when we went to the island it stood there tall and proud like an oasis in the middle of this big loud and tough city, but I quite like the loudness and toughness ... read more

We stayed up until the middle of the night, and went to the airport. It only has 2 buildings, baggage collection and the ticket place - and a man playing the ukulele (Oliver: coconut on a stick!). The most amazing thing happened in Rarotonga Airport. We were just discussing how cool it would be to drive an airoplane - and the pilot walked past us at security, and invited me and Oliver to visit the cockpit! There were so many buttons it would take a whole day to count them all. It takes 18months to complete the course to become a pilot, and then it takes a bit longer to learn about the plane you would like to drive. It was Freezing! Only 18 degrees...but I reckon mum and dad were lying and it was really ... read more

It's just not FAIR. Every place we like we seem to leave to suddenly. The thing is I like it all! The hardest part of leaving Rarotonga is that I know I'm not going to be in any temperature over 20 degrees for the next year. Which doesn't sound very appealing! Rarotonga is hot, perhaps a bit humid, but it has lovely seas, because the island is completely surrounded by a reef. This means that between the island and the reef is the flattest, warmest, clearest water for swimming in in the whole of the Pacific ocean (I reckon anyway). Whenever you go kayaking, there's no doubt that the best place to go is the two (mini) Islands in the lagoon. We went to the wedding island, where every so often you would see a ... read more

Olivers bit: My wobbly tooth is so wobbly, that if we were flying, and we put our window open at 9000 miles an hour, it would fall out. It is my first wobbly tooth. Every time I go past mum she wants to wobble it. Hannah thinks there is a lucky tooth fairy with lots of hair, and I don't know if she can fly to Rarotonga. We met somebody called Conrad, he was 6. His mum had made him a brilliant boat out of a coconut husk. Conrad was really good at catching fish, and I saw a baby sword fish in the water. It was grey and yellow with a nose that was kind of curved. In Rarotonga, you can catch fish on the beach. You have to chase them up to the shore, ... read more

Totally Extreme!!! ☺ I',m sitting in the departure lounge of Christchurch airport, writing about the last week in New Zealand. We left Kaikoura and drove and drove and drove, until we reached a place called Twizel, which had an awesome park - in fact it had 2. We stayed by like Tekapo which is GREEN! The reason it is so green is because when the glaciers came down is gouged out the lake's shape and left a load of white powder - which is rock dust. This makes the water go green and milky looking. Wanaka was the next place we stayed, it was one of my favourite places yet because all the people were nice, and there was a nice atmosphere in the backpackers where we stayed - called Mountain View. The room was small ... read more

Hi again bloggers!!! This is probably our best blog yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Tongariro Crossing: This morning we woke up at 5:30AM!!!!!!! We drove past lake Taupo to get to the starting point of the Tongariro Crossing. There was this lovely lady there waiting for us, she gave us advice on coats, hats and food, (Mum and Dad had already sorted this!) then we got the bus to the actual start. And then we walked....and walked....and walked.....and walked....until we got to the first stopping point where we had breakfast. Marmite and chocolate spread sandwiches. We had people walking past us with eyes glued to our sandwiches. After that we walked.... and walked....and walked.....and walked. Then we reached the first volcano Mt. Nangaroe. It was a perfect cartoon shaped volcano with steam coming out of the top - which ... read more

Sorry we haven't blogged for ages, but we have been flat out travelling, and doing so many things. (Thanks again for your lovely comments). Hannah: Arriving in Auckland - the flight was ten hours, but it felt about 5, because we passed time by doing maths papers, movies (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Tom and Jerry). My first impression of New Zealand was what a cold dark place, but not as 24th centuryish as Singapore. But when we woke up in the morning my first impressions were unfounded! But still it was cold after being in Bali! I spent the first 3 day in my fleece and jeans. We stayed at the 1st night at the Scenic Circle hotel, small and cosy with great breakfast. That day we spent ... read more

This will be our last entry about Bali (Waaaaaaaa) I'll just tell you about the hotel well-some of the other hotels had their own turtle/elephant 's but this one had it's own beach with white sand and the clearest sea I've ever seen. The night before we left, we went to see a Kechak dance at a temple in Puta Wasu, it was about Rama and Sita. The evil monster Ravana had kidnapped Sita, and Rama and the magic King, and Monkey god Hanuman were trying to save her. At one point - Hanuman got caught, and the giants (bad guys) tried to burn him to death.....but as soon as they put him on the fire Hanuman started doing a funny little dance on top of the fire! (coconut husks, set on fire by the dancers) ... read more

Bali Blog 3 - Pemuteran OK - remember one of the hotels we stayed at had its own Elephant, well I can now beat that! The bungalows we stayed at in Reef Seen, Pemuteran Bay had its own turtle, Boomer! Reef Seen look after turtles and have their own hatchery. When the fisherman go out fishing they sometimes find turtles or their eggs, which they can now sell to Reef Seen for a fairly good price. Also if the eggs are found on the beach, they take them and bury them in a pen fuul of sand. As the turtles hatch they dig their way to the surface, and someone puts them in some water , and they are fed on baby silverfish, until they are 3 months old. This is the age when they are ... read more

On the way to Bali (Indonesia) we stopped at Singapore. It was like a city from the 22 century ,all chrome glass and air conditioning. We stayed in a Massive beautiful hotel called Crowne plaza , It was awesome we were only staying 1 night but the room was good enough to live in, with a flat screen TV 2 big comfy double beds a giant bathroom with a bath and a shower warm towels and a dressing gown for every one, plus a huge pool. We went on a sky train, which really goes in the sky, without taking off. They were absolutely immaculate, there wasn't a single piece of chewing gum or rubbish on the floor anywhere in Singapore. Bali....One word to describe Bali is HOT. Another way to describe Bali is HUMID. ... read more
