Hello there! So from Hampi, we had a train to Goa...which got cancelled so frantically we had to arrange something else! So 4 buses and two trains later we got to Anjuna Beach, Goa! We had heard that Goa was a bit of a Ghost town as we were there in 'off season' and Anjuna Beach definately was, there was nothing going on, but to be fair we were cool with having the whole beach to ourselves! Well i say the whole beach, there were constantly Indian girls trying to sell us bracelets and things whenever we hit the beach. At first is was quite annoying but after a while we starting having fun with it, for example, they used to have these lines they would say to us, asking us our names and that, so ... read more

hello just finished my time in Goa so i am updating my blog, didn't really get up to much apart from relaxing on the beach and a couple of nights out drinking in a nightclub in the jungle. We spent most of our time in baga at a place called seby bar and restaurant, we stayed above the restaurant in a really nice room with a balcony for really cheap. The best thing was the bar was just down stairs so we didn't have to leave the facility if we wanted a beer also they had English food on the menu which was a nice change, i treated my self to sausage mash and gravy on one of the nights. The staff where really great their as well we spent a lot of time chatting to ... read more

After the rejuvenating sanctuary of Air-Con Mumbai we felt ready to take on the biggest challenge there is in India..... GOA! Fact: Goa is the most dangerous state in India (for foreigners that is). We feel it would not be sensationalist at all to call Goa....... a Death Trap. Fact: In the last 2 years, 120 foreign tourists have met their demise within Goa. That's 1 tourist death every 6 days! We were determined not to become Goa Statistic no: 121 & 122. But, the dangers are everywhere and risks abound. It has been harder to stay alive here than we thought, we have come close to death on many occasions. Be forewarned, the following series of photographs are not for the faint hearted. They document the terrifying threats that we encountered whilst here, that are ... read more

On Friday I turned 23, and what a fab day I had!! Thanks to everyone back home who sent cards/messages by the way. I woke up early, around 7, and the day didn’t get off to the best ever start when I heard a strange noise, looked out of my window and saw it was raining, nooooooooooo!! I couldn’t believe it, this was the last thing I expected to happen being in Goa. Thankfully it had stopped after about fifteen minutes, and soon the sun was blazing, boy is it hot here right now!! Met up with Mum and Dad, and had breakfast on the beach, at Big Banana. Sam’s, my old favourite shack had been taken down police since I was last here in December, so have had to do quite a bit of shack ... read more

Last night, Bunty took me to the Gate of India monument.. which was on Marine DRive.. Chowpatty beach.. then we went to the oldest, most well known hotel in Bombay the Taj Mahal Hotel.. it was beyond elegant, comparable to the Grand hotel in NYC. I had a dirty martini there.. same price as US.. about 15$. its amazing the dichotomy between rich and poor here. Then Bunty took me to his favorite indian restaurant, and OH MY, IT WAS DEFINATELY THE BEST FOOD OF MY LIFE. We got Masala poppers, which is papadum, sprinkled with spices, raw onions and lentils?? and then Chicken Kabob.. amazing.. and LAMB CURRY. It was perfectly spicy.. and I was in heaven, along with my king fisher. Thereafter we went to a local club.. it was definately happening, 5 stories, ... read more

Haven’t done a Blog for ages so I thought it was time I sat down and wrote a few lines. After Vietnam we returned home to the wettest ever British summer, oh what a nice welcome home. Anyway, that doesn’t matter when you’re stuck in an office (like I was), I actually didn’t mind the rain too much it’s the getting wet that annoys me!! We did have a break from the horrible wet stuff during our weeks holiday to Calpe on the Spanish Costa’s (not sure which Costa - I think its maybe Blanca)?? Well it was a lovely holiday anyway. We stayed in a gorgeous villa with private pool and had a really fantastic week. Accompanying us on the holiday were Mum and Dad, Ceri, Kev, Alfie & Maisy and Bri, Catherine, Luke & ... read more

22 Days from Delhi to Mumbai Our Indian Adventure has been a chaotic and exciting journey. From Tiger Safari in Ranthambore National Park to the Taj Mahal in Agra, from the boat trip along the Ganges to the camel safari in Jaisalmer, it has been an action packed 22 days. No doubt travelling India is not for the faint hearted; even the most experienced traveller will be tested at the best of times. The culture shock can take at least a few days to adjust to. And even then, the sight of cows in the middle of the street and an auto rickshaw swinging to avoid them can still starlet you, especially if you are in the back struggling to hang on to anything and praying to God you arrive safely. This is India, alright! The ... read more

Goa was exactly what we needed; a chillsome breakaway from the sensory overload of Mumbai. I have felt far less vulnerable and anxious here, and we actually contemplated staying the rest of our trip here, and maybe forever. Baga Beach was our first of three beaches visited while in Goa and the most touristy, slightly reminiscent of Rosarito Beach on Spring Break 1999 but with more cows and less tequila. Baga is known as party central for the younger generation while Anjuna Beach, more north, has been an alternative/ hippy party scene since the 1970s. And looking around, things don't look like they've changed much either. Half naked hippies lay side by side with cows and lazy dogs while Goan gypsies with giant nose rings and bangles forever lure you with nag champa into their shops ... read more

So we arrived in Goa, a stunning sunny tropical which was a breath of fresh air after the smog-fog of Delhi. On the highway in from the airport, we were overcome by the palm trees and the gentle slap of the ocean on the beach below, the sun shining on our weary heads, our sweet natured driver Remen who is called Raymond. It was truly paradise. Frankie's words from earlier that afternoon echoed in our ears, uttered before he fell up the stairs getting onto our Spicejet flight: "Good times, here we come! Thump Thump! Oof." (Before I descend into the ridiculousness that was Baga Beach, I have to note (one of the many) curious phenomenon of Indians, that being We Don't Believe in the Concept of Lines. All over India, North and South, Indians will ... read more

I think on my last blog I was just about to go see a Bollywood film in Jaipur. The film I watched was ChakDe! India. This was not your usual all singing, all dancing Bollywood movie. This was more in the style of a Hollywood movie, namely the Mighty Ducks but with better acting and an Indian womens field hockey team. The atmosphere in the cinema was great with people cheering at the screen and whistling at any beautiful women. We were laughed at when coming out as the UK hockey team were beaten by the Indian team during the film. After to Jaipur we went to Udaipur which is a really beautiful and small city. The city is walls are surrounded by lakes and there are small mountains everywhere you look on the horizon. There ... read more
