... read more

The last few days in Goa ahve been probably my best so far in India. Goa is just such a magical place and i love it here sooo much. It was well worth the day and a half spent on the sleeper train, leaving at 10:45pm on the 1st and arriving at 5.30am on the 3rd. It was quite comfortable on the beds and they bring good free food, better then you get on a plane. I had a tasty chicken Bryani which i have been eating quite a lot of recently. Its the only thing they have on the menus here which bares any resemblance to a curry house back home. In my opinion the naan breads are not as tasty as the Jalsha's but who am I to judge. They are just a lot ... read more

Hello all, I am currently in my third day in Goa. Very warm, and we're staying in a fantastic hotel. We landed in Mumbai arounf 1am sunday morning. Realised straight away that India has no traffic laws. The taxi man didn't stop once at a red light. The first full day in mumbai, we walked around the south of the city. Even though it is very big, we found it very easy to get our bearings. We saw the gateway to India as well as the taj palace. The day we paid a taxi man to take us round the city. We went to the Gandhi museum as well as the hanging gardens and we took a visit to the slums also. The gandhi museum was very interesting, but I wasn't as shocked as I thought ... read more

My friend called me and asked me to be in Goa on June 18th. I knew it was off season but I still agreed and set off with my wife, niece and son on night of 17th in non ac sleeper bus. The ride was good although it took a little long than usual. Being off season I had not made any reservation so, we went straight to Calangute beach to check hotels. we settled for Hotel Silla Goa (which is a poor three star hotel) for a bargain price of Rs 4500 for three nights with breakfast. The Calangute is frequented by many Indians so it was not not deserted. The whether was fine with some rain in the air. All the beack Shacks were closed. I came to know that they have to close ... read more

Hello again everyone, I think where I last left off we were still in Pune. So just very quickly on our last day we visited this yoga resort where Alice's aunt has been visiting the last 20 years. We met this guy who is very very big in the yoga world and is about 100 years old. We walked into this little room where we were told to bow and namaste and we told him of our connection to the place. He was extremely unphased and then send 'bless you goodbye' and that was it! We then travelled back up to Mumbai to meet the wife of the man we were staying with. Her name is Minaxi and she was the most lovely women and they were so generous to us, giving us these little bags ... read more

First I should apologize for being very lazy recently. I didn't take the time to write anything on the blog for a few weeks... Well, probably because I didn't do much in the last few weeks! But I am at least safe in Goa, and thanks to people who sent me e-mails wondering if I was OK after what happened in Mumbai. I was in Mumbai recently, but now I am in Goa, and although I heard about what happened, nothing seems to be different in Goa. It is still a quite relaxed, slow paced place in India. And it is still as lovely, warm (hot) and green as it was earlier this year. I still love it. So I am here now, doing yoga, resting, and doing not much else. After months of guiding and ... read more

Well here we are in Baga, unfortunately. We spent our last night in Arambol supposedly having a quiet meal as we were both hungover. We ate at a restaurant called The Rice Bowl overlooking the sea and all was going well until we met a crazy bloke called George and/or Will who was russian and believed he came from outer space. He was a prime example of someone who has been in india too long and smoked way too many drugs! Another giveaway was the fact that he was wearing a cannabis leaf tshirt, pants with Jamaica written across them and had a massive tattoo of Bob Marley across his chest. When talking to me about space travel his teeth fell out and he nonchalently put them back in before trying desperately to persuade us to ... read more

I cannot believe I have been in India for over three weeks, it has gone so fast! The sweet smelling flowers in brightly dressed women's hair, the daily rickshaw commute which I now do alone, the lazy cows that motorbikes use as roundabouts and the spices and herbs that infuse themselves in everything from my tea and cake to my morning breakfast - it all feels like home now. I have even surprised myself with how quickly I have adapted! I've gone really skinny this week from being ill so I am not putting pics up of myself! I will eat myself back to healthyness though, don't worry mum. Almost getting bored of the daily grind already, so last week I started helping another volunteer with her project (she has been here for aaaages): This is ... read more
