Life slowly goes on. We are still in Sihanoukville, working with diving. A lot of things have happened, but nothing feeling very adventurous. I have been diving a few more times, had my first go with an underwater camera. It was quite hard, especially thinking of that there was a strong current in the water and the visability was low and my duty was to be at the back of the group of 6 divers and check that they were all alright. And of course they swam in different directions and lost each other. But I got 2 or 3 pictures that I was satisfied with. It is a bit scary being responsible for other people under water, but that is part of the training to be a divecon. We went to Vietnam to go ... read more

Sooooo, we are sat in our bungalow in Langkawi desperately trying to recall the events of the past two months as we realised that we are well behind with our blog updates. Our recollection is being helped along by us having taken advantage of Langkawi's duty free status and so being able to acquire 1 litre of Smirnoff, 1 litre of Stolichnaya vodka and 1 litre of French wine for under 8 quid, but more on this in our Malaysia blogs (if we ever get around to writing them!). Evading the many moto drivers in Phnom Penh we were able to get some seats on a bus to Sihanoukville near to the front where it was a little cooler than sitting on top of the engine like our last bus journey. The man sat in front ... read more

We got a "share taxi" to Sihanoukeville , now the word "share" was the operative word. There was nine of us in that taxi , Four Cambodian adults, three children and us. To add to the party atmosphere the car reeked of Durians (a stinky SE asian fruit), fortunately we made the 2 hour journey in only 75 minutes through the drivers cunning use of the accelerator and horn. As we arrived in Sihanoukeville the poor car had had enough and broke down in cloud of steam and smoke. At least we made it. Now you don't associate Cambodia with beautiful beaches but if you come down to Sihanoukeville that's what you get. White sand , clear waters, tropical offshore islands and brilliant beachside seafood BBQ's. It's a real surprise. Stayed near Serendipity beach which ... read more

I don't even know where to start so I'll just go in chronological order. I'm having trouble keeping track of what date it is, but I think I left off around 03/30 in Bangkok. Nate traveled on a separate bus and met me @ my hotel near Siam Square. He had planned to meet up w/ some friends he met on a previous Thailand trip in Bangkok the same time I was going, so it seemed to work out well. I wanted to go the the Chatuchak Market by Skytrain (above ground subway)which gets 200,000 visitors each weekend! It's so large they have a dedicated park just for this market, which has everything and anything you could ever want to buy - over and over and over and over and over again. "Same same, but ... read more

After the great relaxing atmosphere in Phnom Pehn Juan, Mark and I decided that we needed even more relaxation so in true form we headed of to the southern coast of Cambodia to a little place called Silhanoukville. We had heard that it was possible to get free accommodation on the beach but we were all a little unsure to whether the rumor was true or not, luckily it did turn out to be correct and we managed to book into a place for free as long as we had a least 2 meals a day at the bar. The prices of the drinks and food was slightly inflated to make up for the free accommodation but we couldn’t complain as we had everything we needed right there- bed, bar, food, pool table, beach, sea, ... read more

Ola shiny happy peoples, and Brett Our subscriber list is now up to 11, which means that entire cricket teams worth of people have lives boring enough for them to religiously follow our activities. Acceptance is always the first step, embrace and own your addiction! Before we dive straight in to the tales of excess, discovery and other such enlightening activities, this is a juncture for me to state that every single sunset in this country is a breathtaking and beautiful experience. Seriously, some of them reach the stage where you wander around not taking your eyes off of the sky. All the most beautiful shades of purple through pink, orange and others. How descriptive is this being, we can’t even adequately describe the sunset? Well they rock, anyway. We’ll post some photos, so you all ... read more

A day of a very local adventure with something of a witch as a tour guide who seemed to want to drink coffee or beer all day! I even tried a milked iced coffee- was good- especially considering i don't drink the stuff (oh and i've also had tomato ketchup and banana since being out here, not sure what's happening to my taste buds!) Was a really good day- we got to see a local fishing port- with them food colouring the shrimps, making ice, and generally being fishermen (and ladies!) Went on to a smuggling village- lots of expensive cars around so u could tell they did good trade- anything from fridges to televisions, even people the smuggle! Travelled 30km of a bamboo train- a wooden platform about 1.5m square motored by a moto ... read more

Had gorgeous day on beach doing a whole lot of nothing! Had manicure and pedicure while lazing on sunbeds (but i have completely ruined mine already!) Got hassled by EVERYONE to buy EVERYTHING! Met a lovely little thai girl called Lin, with amazing English. She made us geckos out of string to tie on our bags, pretty cool we thought! She had a boyfriend named Penh (thought it was brilliant that my boyfriend is Ben and they sounded alike!) She said that in Cambodia they call girls by their boyfriends name, so I soon became Ben and Jo became Mark! Had amazing seafood dinner of prawns (giant!), squid and barracuda then sat for cocktails on the beach with the waves lapping up on the sand! Quite blissful. ... read more
