Keeping with Tradition I stayed up with my mate stefan until a few hours before I was due on the boat to Vietnam. All kinds of feelings as I left Cambodia.Mainy one of worry over how the border police would react with my second overstay of my visa.I tucked a nice $100 into my passport to sweeten the guy but at the last minute put it in my pocket.Amazingly the fella just gave me my passport back!! I should have at LEAST had to pay a 12 day overstay...but no.....and no jail which is always nice.Maybe this was a good omen. The boat from Cambodia inot Chao Doc was slow...about 8 hours but after you crossed into Vietnam the scenery was really nice, through all the canals etc...nowhere near as good as the trip in battembang but still ... read more

Quite How Im supposed to sum up the last 10 weeks in Sihanoukville I dont really know. The closest thing ive had to it was when I was at Surfers in Australia with the best group of lads.Ive met so many class people, loads have come and gone and some come back again.Made some amazing Khmer friends and its with a tear in my eye ive finally forced myself to leave. But its for the best, ive not been off the piss in 3 months, thats every day bar 2 in at Sunrise. The gut is Huge ,my hands shake if I havent had a bevy and i LOVE it.Sitting on the beach all day, hanging round with the fiiiiiiinest Cambodian birds.I have LOVED my time here.Allthough it seems a higher force didnt actually want me to leave.Ive been saying "i ... read more

After a few days in Battembang I was happy Id seen all i needed to see but thought that I needed some beach time again so instead of headed to Phnom Phen I decieded to go straight to the beach "resort" of Cambodia Sihanoukville for a few days and to meet up with the guys id met in Siem reap, battembang. As with any travel in Cambodia,it included a hiccup.Battembang to Phnom Penn was 5 hours and no problems,a one hour wait in crazy phnom Phne bus station later I was on the 4 hour trip down the coast.3 hours later I was awoken by screaming and a HUGE "BANG" clearly the bus had crashed. We clambered off to find a french man in a bit of a state but to be hnest lucky to be alive and ... read more

What to do what to do in Battembang?? A walk around the place was just like any other place in cambodia really apart from alot more french buildings than id seen before.Busy roads,Noisy as hell, jam packed markets. There wasnt really alot to do.The night before id met some people from the boat trip and we paid for some homeless kids to sit and eat with us which the people in the cafe were not to happy abut which was a bit suprising. You think theyd want their own people to eat.We ended up leaving and taking them to another cafe, soon wed be surrounded by a huge gang of dirty children with pjamas worn for maybe 3 weeks asking for "yim yam" (food) but we couldnt pay for all,But the resteraunt owners attitude had left me with a ... read more

In the build up to me travelling in asai I already had a basic plan mapped out.One of which was when leaving Siem Reap was to take the boat to Battebang which the lonley planet describes as the "most scenic boat journey in Cambodia".Everyone I spoke to In Siem Reap though seemed to be getting the bus straight to the capital, Phnom Phen.I advised a few friends of mine who were heading off a day earlier to do this trip and I would meet them later on little did I know what an adventure it would be. I got picked up from my guesthouse at around 6.30 am with the usually standing around wondering why id been told to be here an hour ago.Time doest really exist in Asia I think.I was hoarded onto the ... read more

SO the time had arrived to begin my Cambodia adventure.Ill admit I was a nervous and unsure of what to expect.People Ive spoken too who have been to Cambodia all said theres nothing to worry about if you keep your eyes open.Theres always going to be an element of danger in one of the poorest counries in the world and especially after 2 million people where killed only 30 years ago.Obviously it will take a long time country to heal from that. All economic and even social structures destroyed.A corrupt goverment and Police force. One of the worst places in the world for begging.....yeah I WAS nervous.I just hoped I wouldnt be telling people about my bad fortune after my time there. I nearly didnt even make it luckily my weak bladder meant I needed the bog at ... read more

After regretably leaving Phi Phi and realising id actualy left a day too soon ( I have no idea what days are what anymore) I headed back to Phuket to see emma and matt again for the last time for a while. We had some beers and went up to a new viewpoint theyd found which was sweet but driving up and down hills with 3 on a bike is not so sweet for your groin.Due to my feeble brain getting the days wrong at least I had an extra day my frieds before saying goodbye and an unplanned stop in Kuala lumpur. I feel like ive cheated a little I didnt want to be flying anywhere but the bus journey from bangkok into cambodia is a nightmare, the thai airlines actually pay The cambodians NOT to fix ... read more

Just what you need after a heavy nights booze,ANOTHER boat trip.We got up handy cos Neil was getting back over to Krabi.Im sure id heard monkeys on my roof in the night but maybe it was the bong.Anyway this time it was another bamboo...the island.Emma and Matt had told me to make sure I went so we hired a longtail for 3 hours and shot over there through quite bad winds.....well bad enough to be making the boat unsteady with 2 hangovers in there but we made it alive to beutiful Bamboo.Just when I thought the waters couldnt get clearer as well.Absolutely crystal WELL out to see.I had to rub my eyes to check id actually woke up.We sat off on there for a few hours on our own little bay. Then did a quick scoot round ... read more

(Get it ?!? Phi Phi/bladder infection?? genius ..) A couple of days before we left Krabi we were taken to a Thai night club.Luckily Neil is just like me and wanted to mix with the thais more than the westerners and In doing so we met some great people.Only when I was in this club did it sink in.There was people waving to me from the shops/resteraunts wed been using as if we were best friends.Krabi had started to feel like home which is why I was Gutted to leave but hard to be too gutted when your heading for paradise. I have been planning to go to Phi Phi for 2 years since my old canadian boys from Bowen put the seed in My head. For various reasons it didnt happen.Id try and kill the need ... read more
