First day in Marangu Mwika
First day in Marangu Mwika
All of us getting ready to head out and evangelize
Hey everyone! I am so sorry it has taken me so long to write another blog but it has been so busy. The past two weeks we have been in a village called Marangu Mwika doing evengelism. Sunday March 2nd we had a group of 12 arrive here in Moshi to help start the new church in Marangu. The group was from Oklahoma, Brent Richardson's brother Matt Richardson and niece Nicole Richardson were part of the group. They arrived late Sunday night, so Monday we let them just rest and have a relaxing day. Tuesday however we got up to head [View Full Entry]

and their first Sunday to meet together
This morning we all went to Moshi for the group's 1st African Sunday morning worship. Matt Richardson taught a great Bible class and we had one come forward and repent of sins before the worship even began. Then Grant led us in a few English songs and Richard (one of the local brethren) led us in Swahili songs, Brad Taught an amazing lesson, and Rick led us in Communion. Then we had one, ask to be added to the Lord's church in Baptism. A great morning from the very start! The Samfords and Hochdorfs both came down to worship with us [View Full Entry]

Day 4 in Marangu Well... I had several amazing pictures from Day 4 of the work being done in the Marangu area, with several exciting things to show. Over 60 bible studies were conducted that day, and one precious soul was added to the Lord's Church in Baptism, named BibiAnna. My niece Nicole lead her first Bible Study in Africa, and I had the greatest pictures of that, (she did an amazing job and I couldn't have been more proud to be there with her at that time!) along with the funny incident that happened to little Gracie. During the study [View Full Entry]

Safari - day 21

 Africa » Tanzania » North » Marangu
After leaving lake Baringo (sorry - got the names mixed up in the last blog, it was Baringo and not Bunyoni) we travelled to Lake Naivasha where we stopped on the way to visit Joy Adamson's hosue (the writer of Born Free) and have tea and cake - a very strange thing to do in Africa! After our first night at Naivasha we went on a boat to a place called Green Crater Lake where we did a walking safari - I managed to get as close as 5ft away from a giraffe, as well as seeing some zebra, gazelle and [View Full Entry]

written by Mister Stuart R The Mountain Kilimanjaro is a massive, hulking mountain dominating the plains of Northern Tanzania. At 5,895m (19,339ft), it is the highest free standing mountain in the world and the highest point in Africa. The mountain is an old volcano with two distinct craters - Kibo and Mawenzi. Mawenzi is the more dramatic, with towering rugged crags and incredible tightrope ridges. Kibo is higher than Mawenzi, but appears more docile, displaying a classic steep sided crater structure. As well as being the home to the highest summit on Kilimanjaro, Uhuru, this is also where you find [View Full Entry]

Malaria @ Marangu

Local banana beer...
doing well for someone with malaria!
We decided to escape Moshi for a few days to give Dani a chance to recuperate in some semblance of peace and quiet, not from the malaria, but instead the large quantity of Larium she had to take in the space of 12 hours. Right from the outset though we were convinced we had made the wrong choice. Even after explaining to the mini bus tout where we wanted him to drop us we ended up way past our stop. We had to wait for the mini bus to fill up again for the return journey and when we did manage [View Full Entry]
