Hey everyone! I just wanted to let everybody know that I am back home in America. I got home on Tuesday June 24th but went straight to church camp the following Sunday. I just got back from camp yesterday. So I finally found time to sit down and let everyone know I made it home safe. I want to thank you so much for all the thoughts and prayers that were in my behalf. I appreciate them more that you will ever know! The things I was able to do and experience while I was there was amazing and I think God everyday for allowing me to do them. I am so blessed to know people like you who encourage and support me. Thank you for everything you have done!! In Christian Love, Callie... read more

Sorry it has been a while since I have written a travel blog. On Monday morning, June 9th, the Richardson's and I along with the girls from Mississippi drove to Arusha to stay for the last 2 weeks of our trip. It is more difficult to get internet here, than it was when I was living at the Richardson's house. I will try to send out one more blog after this one, but no promises! The first week was the woman's, men's and children's seminars. The mornings started off with the men's seminar at the ACSOP and women's seminar at the Arusha Church of Christ. The seminars went all day, we were supposed to end at 3pm but being women we always ran a little over time. The children's seminar was from 4-6 and let me ... read more

Today was “Bring a Friend to Church” day in Moshi and the turn out was great. We had a total of 147 people at worship and our hand shaking line went around the yard twice! After worship we had an African fellowship meal together. We had rice and mystery meat with a slice of orange on the side. When we were all done eating we had a song service with a short lesson. It was a great and encouraging day for all of us.... read more

Today was the last day of the campaigns in Moshi. We got to the church building, divided up into our same groups and went out to try and save souls. We walked and passes out tracts for about 30 minutes before we had our first Bible study. When we got to lady’s house we were to study with, she offered me a corncob that she had been roasting. I had already eaten breakfast and the corn did not exactly look appetizing, so I tried to turn it down. But of course she was extremely persistent and forced me to take it. I was lucky enough to finally get the lady to break the corn into 3 pieces so Sarah and Janna had to eat some too. The corn started to make us all sick to our ... read more

After you have been here for a while the Africans look at you more as a local than a visitor and because of that I got signed up to cook today. It made me happy that they signed me up to cook and I was more than happy to help them out. So today after all the teams left to go out on the streets, Lindsey Jensen and I stayed behind to help cook and clean. The first thing we had to do was wash all the dishes from the morning chai(tea) and mkati(bread). Then it was time to start cooking the beans and rice for lunch. We were in charge of cutting up the vegetables for the mchicha(greens) that you put on the side of the rice. After the vegetables were cut I went and ... read more

This morning I got up and I did not feel well at all. I still went to the church building with the group but decided to stay at the building instead of going out on the strees with the rest of my group. Even though I stayed at the church building there was still plenty for me to do. I helped out in the kitchen by cutting and slicing avocados. Then I spent most of the morning with Timothy Massawe folding loads of the tracts that we pass out on the streets. When my group returned from their morning Bible studies they had some bad news. They went to visit the lady I was telling about in my last travel blog who was scared that she might get beat by her family if they found out ... read more

This week starts the campaign in Moshi. So instead of writing one travel bog at the end of the week, I want to write a travel bog everyday to let you all know exactly what is going on everyday. On Monday, the day before the campaign is orientation/folding tracks day. So we all arrived at the church building at 9am to begin to fold tracts for the week. After folding for a while it was time to start the orientation. Since I have done all of the campaigns before, Brent and I left early and went to Kili Kids Orphanage. We held a medical clinic there for the kids and since we both are so close with the kids we wanted to be there to help. The day went good, all the kids got checked and ... read more

Starting this week life here in Africa has been extremely busy and its not going to slow down anytime soon. Monday we went to the Kili Kids Orphanage to work on the garden. When we got there and I immediately went inside to say hi and play with the kids. In the garden however it was time to lay the drip irrigation system. The first thing we had to do was dig out the middle of the beds to put fertilizer in them. We put 3 different things inside the beds, the first being banana leaves. So we started hauling banana leaves from inside the orphanage to the garden which is outside the orphanage walls. The kids were so excited because this was something that they could help us with. All the kids were pulling ... read more

This week I am staying in the city of Arusha with Anthony and Shasta Brown, along with their son Josh who is visiting for 3weeks. I am having a great time visiting the missionaries here and we are doing a lot of work. I got here late on Monday afternoon, in time to go to the devotional over at the Gee’s house, at 6pm to sing and fellowship with each other. Tuesday Shasta and I went to the village of Monduli for a Bible study. It took us about 40min and 3 bumpy roads to get to Mama Bibi’s house, the lady we were studying with. On the way to her house we picked up Innocent and Samweli so they could translate for us during the Bible study. Mama Bibi is an older lady, probably ... read more

This past week has been a busy week. Brent and I started it off with a day of evangelism in Marangu Mwika. Us along with about 10 members from the Moshi congregation drove up the mountain to evangelize to the people of Marangu. It is about a 45min drive for us to get to the village. When we arrived we divided up into our teams to go out and set up some Bible studies. My team was 3 of the African ladies from the church, Abigail, Elizabeth, Teresa and me. So of course the whole time we were walking from study to study I was totally out of the loop on what they were talking about because it was all in Swahili. Every once in a while Abigail would translate their conversation to me to ... read more
