...and Meg's feet
Haven't really had a chance to really sit down and update our blog. So much has happened over the past 10 days. We've been catching up with all of my old friends here in northern Germany and it feels like we've been here for weeks.

Thought we'd sit down and let you all know what we've been up to.

Last Tuesday, 24th October we flew to Berlin. Our friends Tina and Rob were there to meet us at the airport. Tina is a school friend from my time as an exchange student in Leer, Ostfriesland back in 1996. She now lives in Oldenburg with her boyfriend, Rob and they both drove to Berlin to spend a few days showing us around there.

What an amazing city. We had a fantastic little hotel right in the middle of town. It was only about a 10 minute walk (if that) up to Potsdamer Platz. Late afternoon on the Tuesday we walked up to Potsdamer Platz and saw the amazing Brandenburg Gate. It is incredible. We then walked around outside the Reichstag, which is a beautiful building. Afterwards Tina and Rob took us to one of their favourite

italian restauranst for a very yummy dinner.

The next morning Cameron lead us on a wild goose chase around the city looking for.........you guessed......geek stores. We did find a really good one in the end and our dear friends were so patient! (Vielen Dank Rob und Tina!!!)

That day we visited Checkpoint Charlie which had walls of pictures and information on the streets to inform the uninformed tourists (aka US) about life in Berlin before and after the wall. It was so interesting. We also saw the Gedächtniskirche, which was amazing.

In the afternoon we spent a couple of hours indoors in the excellent Berlin Film Museum before heading back to our hotel for a rest. That evening we took a stroll along Unter den Linden, a beautiful street lined with trees which took us past a beautiful University and a very eye-catching billboard (see picture below).

On Thurday (26th) we drove back to Oldenburg with Rob and Tina - was a long drive back with heaps of roadworks, aaarrrggghhhh!!

Oldenburg is a very pretty city. Tina and Rob have an awesome place - so cosy, we felt right at

home. Friday evening we were very spoiled with a fantastic Raclette meal. It was so much fun and so delicious. I'm hoping Cam lets me buy a Raclette so we can enjoy raclette parties back in Australia!!

Saturday we arrived in Leer, which was the start of what has been a very busy week catching with up with many, many friends. A week full of exciting events which will have to wait until the next update!!
