I've gotten over the initial culture shock of being here. When you travel to a completely unknown place to you that's what happens....shock. It hits you and you can't do anything about it. I stuck it out and i'm glad. I have a growing appreciation for this country each and every day. Yes it was hard at first but it's getting easier and more enjoyable.

Yesterday was great, Robin and I spent all day wandering around Chiangmai eating food, looking at temples, and just enjoying being here. The start of the Loi Krathong festival was yesterday and we found ourselves surrounded by tourists at a night market with dozens of hot air balloon type lanterns going up into the air. There was some outrageous Thai stage show going on while we drank our drinks and ate food. I had a wonderful time.....

Lots to see and do here, so I best get to it.

take care.

loi krathong
hey darcy, i'm glad you are having a better time. chiang mai is a little more low key than bangkok. loi krathong is lots of fun. be careful of crazy fireworks and don't let your lantern light a tree on fire like i did last year. say hi to your brother. chop dii (good luck) mir
