We arrived in Puno early this morning after a short air flight from Arequipa. It is a lovely little town of around 100,000. There is a main square area and a nice walking street with shop etc. Many of the locals can be seen wearing their traditional attire. Puno is high in elevation 12,500 feet. When we arrived we were given Coca tea to drink and Coca leaves to chew. This is to help with altitude sickness. The weather here is a little cooler then the areas we have been. Tomorrow we will go out on Lake Titicaca and visit some floating reed islands.

We have just returned from an amazing day out on Lake Titicaca. Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world. We started our day with a cholo ride ( a cholo is a bike with a bench seat for two passengers and a local pedals the bike) to our boat. Our first stop was a visit on one of the reed islands. We really enjoyed the visit and seeing how the reed people live. I even got to dress up in the local attire!!! From there we visited a lovely
island called " Taquilie Island". We climbed to 13,000 feet to the town square where we had our lunch. The lunch was fried rainbow trout which was introduced from Canada. The local here always dress in the traditional Peruvian attire from this area. It was very hot here and we all got a bit of color.

Hi Pat and Jim! Wow! That is one heck of a trip you got going on. What a great time. And here I am suffering in temps around 0 degrees. Bet you're jealous, hey? Seriously, very nice pics, great itinerary, and both of you are looking great!
