Bongiorno all:
Falling further and further behind on these blog entries, this being Friday morning and getting ready to check out of our wonderful hotel in Florence (Firenze) and head south to Siena.
Wednesday was another full day of art, architecture, romance, and walking. We started the day at the Museum of San Marco, a 15th century monastery housing an incredible collection of frescoes by Fra Angelico. The upstairs has 43 cells (living rooms) decorated by Angelico and his assistants. Quite spiritually engaging.
Then, onto the Ponte Vecchio to browse for Mike's temporary, replacement wedding ring (yes, Albert, Mike is quite conscious of his naked left ring finger), but that turned into just a nice walk through the historic city on a lovely day, because it was onto the moment Kate has been waiting for -- our date with Michelangelo's David at the Accademia. From the moment we entered the long foyer to see the 17' tall David at the far end, it was all breathless and surreal. There was David in all his Renaissance perfection. Since pictures weren't allowed in this and most of the museums we visited, you'll have to settle for the plaster copy positioned in the courtyard of
the museum bookstore.
The day ended with a bus ride to the Piazzale Michelangelo on a hill overlooking the entire Florentine landscape to the north for a twilight gaze over this city of wonder.
Ciao.

Mike,If it is Friday and you are heeding off to Siena then the date of your blog posting is NOT Wed. 24 April....... At least not here in the UK. Of course jet lag can be part of it. Found your "temporary" replacement ring?? Gold shops on
