We got to Kampala very early this morning after 30 or so hours of travel including stop-overs. Today was a 'get your bearings day' as we have only 4 days of our total 3 weeks here booked. We learned very quickly that this week between Christmas and New Year is not the time of year to not have bookings made in advance but we have managed to get a tour booked out of Masindi for Murchinson Falls National Park with a camping tour operator out of Masindi – Yebo Tours. They are listed in the Brandt Guide and have a good, informative website so we will see.
We will stay in Kampala until Monday (30th😉 and then travel by local bus to Masindi - about a 4 hour trip on good roads.
Kampala, what we have seen of it so far, is a typical large African city. Lots of traffic, bad air and people, people, people. Tomorrow, we will check out Old Kampala and basically wander around. We have nothing specific we wanted to see or do here. It was primarily a spot to get us on our way for the rest of the trip.
