Preparing For Our Next Adventure

Two years ago as we drove through the Burgundy area of France we made the decision to come back sooner rather than later. Before that trip had ended we were planning our return. If the reason for returning was to revisit Burgundy then where else would we like to travel. Italy. And so the itinerary developed. Now you have the opportunity of following our journey through Italy, France and the United Kingdom.

Before we leave home lists are created. We have set ourselves a six week programme of gardening, household tasks, informing the various agencies of our trip, haircuts, doctors’ visits, and packing. As each item is ticked off the lists soon shrink. We are now down to just one final list. Hopefully we’ll complete the last item – arrive at the airport on time.

These final weeks always seem to go very quickly. It is a constant process of completing items on the lists, visiting, or making contact, with family and friends. We are going to be away for three months. The farewells our ancestors made 150 years ago before leaving England or Scotland must have been quite sad knowing they may never see family or friends again. Our farewells are full of happiness and excitement, and full of anticipation of the wonderful stories we will share on our return.

We have our tickets, actually a few typed words on an A4 sheet of paper, bags are being packed, accommodation bookings have been made, currency sorted, passport at the ready, transport to the airport arranged, and the last items on the final check list have been crossed off.

Our journey begins on Friday 12 May. We depart from Queenstown on an up and down flight to Rome. We have stop offs in Sydney, Bangkok, and Dubai. By the time we reach Rome we will be ready for a big rest. Having visited Rome on two previous occasions we haven’t the need to rush around this wonderful city ticking off the “must see” sights. Perhaps we will wander through Rome and enjoy some hidden gems that are there just waiting to be rediscovered.

And so the journey begins. We hope you enjoy coming along for the ride.

Time for departure
Strange though it may seem, the time before departure can often be as exciting as the travel itself until you reach those places at the top of your 'must see' list and Scicily will be one of those.Wish we were with you.We will just have to live your trip through your eyes and be happy for the time being knowing that 2019 and the BBA V4 isn't too far away for us.Enjoy and have a wonderful time

Thinking of those left behind
Will keep an eye on the weather we will miss while experiencing a Northern Hemisphere summer. I wonder who will be smiling in 3 months time. Look forward to catching up on our return.
