On Thursday evening Ineke, Caroline, Alex and I set off for the Roman city of Chester, about an hours drive away. The was celebration of the Roman feast of Saturnalia which sounded like fun, and it certainly was a spectacle. I felt a bit sorry for the Romans in their sandals in the rain, but it looked as if they enjoyed themselves. Anyway, there were lots of lights and torches, crowds of people and a huge parade afterwards. Well worth going to see. And thanks to Alex for some photos.
