Woolly says – It had been a long journey and just as my nut supplies were reaching a dangerously low level we pulled up. Glad to get off the bus and stretch my paws, the girls picked up the backpacks, I stifled a giggle as Jo nearly toppled over with the weight on her back, for some reason she glared at me! A short walk to the train station which in the evening cool was rather pleasant, I’m not sure why the women where sweating so much though! He might have been enjoying the cool evening but when carrying a pack as big as ours it felt mighty hot to us! Woolly says – As I hurried into Turino Port Suza station my first stop was the ticket office to check the time of our train, with everything written down by a nice man I gave the list to Jo and headed to the café for supplies. One muffin later and I was ready for the last part of our twelve hours of travelling, the escalator took me onto the platform and I shouted for the others to run before the train left, well all I can say is that they tried!
There is nothing more frustrating than running for a train when your overloaded and then missing it! The next train was cancelled which now put a strain on whether we could get our connection out of the centre of Turin or if we would need to stay in the city for the night. Woolly says – As another train arrived I leapt on board, checking Jo’s watch it was going to be touch and go and with not a moment to spare I was off down the platform and running as fast as my paws would go to our last train of the day, we made it with seconds to spare. I settled down for the hour long journey with a small snack.....well running always builds up an appetite I find! As we tried to get our breathe back we discussed what the next couple of weeks might bring. Part of our travel plans you might remember was to do some volunteer work and we were going to be helping Lucia, Bruno and Baby Agnese at their smallholding in Ceva. Woolly says – I of course would be directing operations....well that was my plan! As we pulled up to the platform I trotted towards to the exit to have the warmest of Italian greetings from Lucia who drove us the short distance back to her home. Having met everyone including two of their friends, Milka and Patti who were helping as well, we were shown into our caravan, I felt like a proper traveller as I settled down in my bunk for the night.
The days have proved to be quite warm and hopefully we have proved to be more than helpful..... Woolly says – Well given that I’m chief babysitter (not a fan of having my trunk sucked though), head chef (two huge meals a day and lifting those saucepans takes some doing when your as small as me!), washing up (it never ends my paws are permanently wrinkled!), painting upstairs in the area that has just been constructed (Jo has yet to realise that my fur is steadily tuning white!), feeding the goats and donkeys (have to watch out that I don’t get eaten myself!) and gardening..... in fact I haven’t stopped ........... I’d like to see him start! .........The small furry one spends more time getting under our feet and sitting in trays of paint, as we try to work and of course avoiding the ministrations of baby Agnese and her ability to suck his trunk and tusks at any given moment. Woolly says – .......no appreciation at all, I had a whole hour of trunk sucking as we wandered round the market town of Monticelli which dates back to the 10th century. It was a pretty little town with a small church which due to being on buggy duty we couldn’t get into....how do Mom’s manage with these dratted things, doorways, pavements and pedestrians should be banned when your transporting a small person! Having managed to navigate round a pharmacy and only knocked over two displays we retreated to a local café and rather than hand over my tusks and trunk once more I enlisted Zoe’s help in singing to keep the baby happy....seemed to work! It’s very peaceful (well except for mammoth shrieks when Agnese gets to grips with him) and hopefully we will get a chance to swim in the river which runs at the bottom of the property at some point as well as heading into Turin for a look around.
Woolly says – Nooooooo baby approaching!
