Sky tower Yesterday (3rd February) we decided to act like the true tourists we are and explore Aucklands town centre and the viaduct by foot. We browsed through some shops on Queen Street (the main high street) before heading towards the Sky Tower, Aucklands most renowned landmark. It is the Southern Hemispheres tallest structure at 328m and can be seen practically wherever you are in the city. After a short lift journey to the viewing platform at the top we were greated with stunning 360 views. It was a beautiful, clear day and we could see the entire city, the surrounding suburbs and as far as Rangitoto and Waihiki island in the distance. The views were amazing and it was great to be able to see the entire city from such a height. After this we carried on our walking tour down to the viaduct where we spent the rest of the afternoon strolling round the waterfront imaginary mega yacht shopping, tucking into some ice creams and getting even more burnt. ??
Today was the day.. We left Auckland early this morning and picked up our new baby (camper) and started the first chapter of our adventure- a month travelling to the
At the foot of the Sky Tower top of the North Island (Cape Rienga) to the South Island (Queenstown) in a campervan. The campervan is awesome it has a lounge/dining area by day which transforms into a bed at night, a toilet and shower- more of a wet room to be quite frank, alongside all the cooking facilities we could need a hob, microwave, fridge/freezer etc. so we will be virtually self-contained for the next 30 days. It's a great way to travel and really experience the country with us having the freedom to park up and stay wherever we want, within reason. This is definitely the highlight of the trip for us both, visiting so many different places and driving the whole length of the country is something we are both so excited about and really looking forward too. Let's see if we feel the same in a months time however..
From picking up the campervan we drove on from Auckland to Kataitai a small rural beach town via Cable Bay where we spent our first night in a secluded campsite right next to the beach. What more could you want!
