Hi folks, so I am finally doing this. After years of saying, wow I'd love to travel, I am actually going ahead with it. Last Friday (29th January 2016) was my last day in work and today I head off on my first destination, Fiji 😊

On Fiji I meet up with some other volunteers and work on a marine conservation project. I will first learn diving and then be helping to carry out research on marine species living there to see how much of the coral and fish life there is. Sadly with impacts of over fishing, pollution and climate change a lot of marine life is dying out. Hopefully in this part of the world GVI (Global Vision International) hope to try to overcome this through education about the benefits of marine conservation and the importance of marine biodiversity.

Although I did a bit of diving at Uni, that was in grim UK waters, diving into quarries in the Lake District. Occasionally you'd see a lovely trout or a submerged rusty old car, hopefully Fiji will have less rusty cars and plenty of other wildlife. It'll certainly

Next (in April) I'll be heading on a 40 day adventure around Southern Africa- starting in South Africa, going through Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania & Zanzibar and then finishing in Nairobi, Kenya.

Finally part 3 (mid May to the end of August) I'll be joined by my housemate Sarah as we head out to South America. The vague plan is start in Rio, Brazil, then head to Argentina, via Iguazu Falls, then stay for a month in Bolivia, checking out the Salt Flats and possibly an Amazonian adventure before heading to Peru and doing the Inca Trail to Machu Piccu, Finally we head to Ecuador and visit the Galapagos Islands.

So there's the basic plan. Whenever I manage to find WiFi I'll keep this updated, but occasionally it may be a few weeks from time to time, depending on tinterwebz, so please do bear with me. Much love Al 😊

Wow
What a trip you have planned! Be careful in Africa and watch out for that Zika in South America! I'd love to go to Machu Pichu one day but I suspect the trek would probably kill me ? Have a great time!
