We are fortunate to be occasional guests with our long time friends (we met when our children, now in their 40's were enrolled in Nursery School in Burnt Hills) at their home in East Falmouth, MA. The house had been a delightful summer "playhouse" for generations of the family before Doc did an extreme make-over to make it an even more delightful year round home for the couple to retire to.

Paula dragged me out shopping. I was kicking and screaming; but she is so persuasive! Our first port of call was a bit of a disappointment as it was Monday and like so many antique shops, consignment boutiques and restaurants across the nation - that could only mean that "Close Call Consignment Shop at 630 Palmer Avenue was CLOSED. We peeked in the windows, admired the very spiffy inventory of high end women's clothing and accessories and entered the art Gallery next door.

What a treat! Osborn & Rugh Gallery 114 Palmer Avenue, is run by a couple. She (Hillary) is a watercolorist; he paints in oils; and the couple are amazingly prolific. We chatted and enjoyed learning about the art (and the local tennis scene). We managed

to skip a trendy looking coffee shop next to the Gallery. But we stayed on the south side of Palmer Avenue with the car parked conveniently behind all of the wonder of a very chi chi shopping strip that would turn other strip malls green with envy.

So on to Real Bodies Clothing from Bali at 100 Palmer Avenue to oogle wonderful batik prints, with great pan Asian styling, tons of the loose fitting fancy tops that Paula and I relish and great accessories. I bought a classic long halter dress here on a previous visit. It's my summer (and Florida) go to dress and has become a wardrobe staple. The helpful sales associate got a little testy and I got chided for trying to use the camera on my cell phone. I should have known to ask first; but the upshot is you're going to have to visit to enjoy the fun fashion experience.

Still in the same district, we crossed Palmer Avenue to take in Vagabond View / Vagabond Treasures at # 95. The charming shop started out as a photo studio hidden behind the local CVS. A wise move to Palmer Avenue prompted the owners (two women) to take on some very, very nifty home decor and clothing accessory items along with their photography business. We were especially taken by very well priced glass pendant lighting fixtures from Turkey, children's clothing designed by one of the partners' mother's, photos of new born twins in the style of Ann Geddes, wonderful shawls and scarves and stylish statement jewelry.

While it would be an easy walk to Port Cargo at 156 Main Street, we hopped in the car and headed for Main Street where Paula did a "Uie" to situate us right in front of this ladies boutique. I was quite at home here as many of the styles are from the same manufacturers and designers that I get at Musler's in Schenectady. If shopping is your thing, Falmouth is a great destination. After all there's more to life than golf, biking, seafood, the beach, historic sites and antiquing!

Love Port Cargo on Main Street, Falmouth. They carry favorite brands that I usually find at Musler's, my total fav ladies boutique in Schenectady.
