His scottish alright!
Told you his hair had got too long! Well, we've returned from our adventures in Scotland, and are happy to report back that Scotland Rocks!!!!!!!
After a seven hour drive very early last saturday morning, we crossed the english border and arrived in Edinburgh.
I have to say, Edinburgh is possibly the most beautiful city in the world. Out of the 26 countries we've seen so far, we're hard pressed to find a more beautiful city than Edinburgh.
Saturday afternoon we looked around the city, walked up to the Edinburgh Castle, which is perched high above the city on a cliff that was once a volcano. Walked down the royal mile, checked out the queen of scotlands posh residence and listened to the bagpipes sound out across the city, you sure could tell you were in scotland!
Sunday we drove to St Andrews, the home of Golf, Mick was in sporting heaven once again as we walked across the golf course admiring the sea view and beautiful architecture steeped in history. We also checked out St Andrews Cathedral, well, it used to be a cathedral til they decided they could use the stones elsewhere so tore half of it down to build some bridges, they obviously took the beauty
of their buildings for granted back then. They'd done the same thing with St Andrews Castle, but all though they're only half built, they still look amazing.
Next we checked out the William Wallace memorial (when telling Kev this his response was 'ey, is he a real bloke?' hahaha) then drove back to Edinburgh.
Monday we decided to go and find Nessie down at loch ness. It was a long drive, but well worth it. The green hills and endless lakes make Scotland a pleasure to drive through, and the size of Loch Ness has to be seen to be believed. Just so you know, Loch Ness is about 35kms long and 700 feet deep, it holds more water than all the lakes and reservoirs in England all put together......no wonder they cant find the darn monster! :-)
On the way back from the lake we called in to Glascow. As all the guide books and tourists will tell you, Glascow doesnt have the same beauty as Edinburgh, but for a big city (much much bigger than Edinburgh) it definitely holds its own and is still a beautiful city, both very liveable! Plus, the Scots are very friendly with very
Edinburgh Castle
A close up of the castle..... cool accents, so you cant help but love the place.
Tuesday before driving back, we went back in to Edinburgh town as Mick just had to buy.........some bagpipes!
Yep, he's now a true Scot and has since belted out something that sounded very similar to squeezing all the air out of a dead duck (trust me, I know what that sounds like....long story).....I can see the bagpipes coming down off the shelf at every drunken moment and am feeling sorry for the neighbours already. Fortunately, they're only a small set and arent that loud, hopefully in the future the dead duck noise may progress to sounding more like music!
In other news, my time at Dogs Trust has finally come to an end (longest 3 week contract ever) and I've now started a new contract at a huge property investment company called 'British Land.' Micks still drinking cups of tea all day with his boss, and will probably continue doing so until xmas. And, each thursday he does gardening at the Nestle factory where he gets free choccies......what more could the boy want!
Well, we've got quite a few pics, so enjoy, til next time!
