No rock slides Please!
We headed North for the summer searching for a low elevation, cool weather spot. I found Skookum Rendezvous RV Resort in Usk, Washington in my Google searches. Danny and Maureen Motola had a lot for sale which they rented to us for a month. The 1600 mile trip took us 2 weeks as we don't travel very fast. The resort is located on the beautiful Pend 'Orielle River. The area is beautiful, albeit isolated. Maureen connected me with their pickleball group that carpooled to the Indian Reservation twice a week to play indoors. Yes, the Kalispell's call themselves Indians and live on a reservation, not Nations People. The facility was first class and welcomes all people from the area.

We spent our time "sharpening the saw" as Stephen Covey writes. Oh, and picking up bear scat from our yard every morning! Try as I might, I never got a picture of the bears. Deer were in abundance, American White Pelicans migrated through, and at least one cougar (now deceased we're told after he went after someone's dog.) Tom wanted to stay another month but I had already scheduled Fall appointments so we started our trip south mid-August. Good thing, because nearby Diamond Lake Thousand Trails Resort was evacuated due to fires the week after we left. Smokey!

We took scenic Hwy 89 through Utah to Lake Powell and spent a few days being tourists. At the Glen Canyon Dam we learned water levels are only at 50%. The white stone you'll see on our pictures shows where the water level would be if not for the drought.

The famous Antelope Slot Canyon is located in the Navajo Nation. Unfortunately, it's only accessible by open-air "monster trucks" over a dirt road driven by certified Navajo, so we couldn't play photographer with the professionals. However, the National Park Services had daily boat cruises up the water side of the canyon and that was fun.

Special thanks to daughter Sherri and BFF Nancy who pointed us to The Lung Institute and their studies on stem cell therapy. We attended a webinar and will discuss this possibility with Tom's doctor in the Fall. Meanwhile, looking forward to livin' and lovin' life!
